The Road to Rebirth Her Fresh Start and His Late Sorrow

Chapter 48

Judson huffed with frustration and resignation but still glanced at the doctor before he walked out. "Be good and answer my wife's questions, or I'll ensure you regret it!"

The doctor felt a chill run down his spine and responded promptly, "Yes, Mr. Buchanan. You can count on

it."

With that, Judson left, the door slamming shut behind him.

"Doctor, I'm not his wife. I mean it. But I don't understand why does he think I am?" Nancy asked, perplexed.

"Mr. Collins, please take my question seriously. Don't make me question your expertise."

Stunned, Mr. Collins looked at Nancy's sincere face and replied with a furrowed brow, "If you're not his wife, you must be someone deeply ingrained in his memory. Or perhaps it's some imprinting phenomenon. His amnesia could cause him to mistake you for his wife."

Nancy stayed quiet, taking in the information.

Trying to offer comfort, Mr. Collins cleared his throat lightly and continued, "Patients can alter their memories. When Mr. Buchanan fully recovers, it will become clear you have no connection to him."

So, they had to wait for Judson to regain his memories so he could understand she had nothing to do with him.

Nancy furrowed her brow. "Isn't there a surgery or something that can fix this?"

"No, Mr. Buchanan's psychological trauma is pressing on his nerves. Any attempt at surgery might lead to cerebral palsy," Mr. Collins refused sternly.

Then, shifting gears, he added, "If you have no ties to Mr. Buchanan, you might consider taking him to the police station tomorrow to try and locate his family."

Looking at the darkening sky, Nancy realized it was the only way forward.

"Alright, thank you, doctor."

As Nancy turned to leave, she opened the hospital room door to find Judson, hands behind his back, giving her a look of utter desolation.

Despite being taller, his eyes were red, the picture of abandonment.

Judson cautiously took Nancy's hand. "Babe, please don't leave me. I'll be good."

"Let go of me! I'm not your wife. My name is Nancy. You can come home with me tonight, and tomorrow,

I'll help you find your family." Nancy tried to withdraw her hand, to no avail.

Despite her efforts, his grip was unyielding.

Judson looked at her and chuckled softly, "Silly girl, but you are my family, babe!"

His voice had a hint of undeniable affection.

Nancy was at a loss for words. "You can't call me babe. Use my name."

The smile in Judson's eyes was impossible to hide. "Alright, babe."

Nancy bit back her frustration. After all, he was a patient who couldn't fully understand the situation. Thinking this, Nancy sternly said, "Let's go home!"

"Okay, let's go home." Ever the charmer, Judson echoed her words as they left, his hand securely holding Nancy's.

Half an hour later, a black car stopped at the hospital entrance.

"Mr. Ferguson, Mr. Buchanan's location has vanished again!"

The young man in the backseat, his face a mask of concern, commanded, "Step up the search. We need

to find Mr. Buchanan before Brad does!"noveldrama

They had to locate Mr. Buchanan before they turned the whole town of Ardenweald upside down.

After Nancy and Judson arrived home, her phone rang again.

Nancy quickly answered, saying, "Winnie."

"Lena, you better hurry. You can't be late for your welcome-back party. It's at the Twilight Tower Hotel," Winnie reminded her kindly.

Nancy suddenly remembered. "Right, I'll be there soon."

After hanging up, a deep voice unexpectedly came from behind her. "Babe, are you going out?"
