Chapter 772
He was completely frazzled, practically losing his mind.
Now that they'd finally found Calliope, everyone instinctively let out a sigh of relief. They all knew Calliope was the one who could untangle this mess.
But now, no one was sure what her attitude would be.
"I'm on vacation," Calliope said, glancing up at Monty. "As for why I gave up the shares, well, you already handed them over to me. I just want to cash out. Is that a problem? I mean, I'm just selling what's mine, right?"
“But shouldn't you have talked it over with us first?" Monty said, exasperated. "What are we supposed to do if you just go behind our backs like this?"
"You guys never talked things over with me before, did you?" Calliope shot him a look.
She'd been put through hell by the Jewell family. If the real Calliope had been physically weaker, if she hadn't had brothers to protect her, who knows what would've happened to her?
The thought left a bitter taste in Calliope's mouth. She'd already died once. If the former Calliope had cared about her family as much as she did, she would've ended up just as broken.
Monty was at a loss for words.
"We're your parents, you're our daughter. Isn't it normal for you to discuss this with us?"
Zelda couldn't hold back any longer, her tone sharp. "Those shares were a gift from us. Even if you wanted to sell them, shouldn't you have at least asked if we wanted them first?"
"Did you ever stop to think about us? Or about the company? Calliope, why do you never consider anyone but yourself?"
It was obvious Zelda was furious, convinced Calliope was being selfish.
Calliope just gave her a cool sideways glance, not even bothering to argue.
Had Zelda ever considered her?
"You always called me a jinx, didn't you?" Calliope looked seriously at Zelda. Well, here I am, just as you wished, a walking disaster. Why would a jinx ever look out for you?"
Calliope's gaze was unwavering. "A jinx only brings misfortune. Isn't that what you always wanted?"
Zelda was left speechless. Sure, she'd said those things, but did she ever actually want to bring trouble into her own life?
She stared at Calliope, at a complete loss.
Calliope just shrugged. "Sorry, but the shares are gone. If you want them back, you'll have to buy them."
"How are we supposed to do that? The buyer's not even interested," Monty said, getting frantic.
Lisette spoke up. "Callie, did you do this on purpose? Are you getting revenge on the Jewell family? Do you still think we wronged you so now you want to destroy the company?"
"Yep," Calliope replied, turning to Lisette

Lisette shivered under her stare, goosebumps prickling up her arms.
The others watched Lisette, while Julius muttered darkly, "She'll take you down, too. Did you hear that?"
Fear flashed in Lisette's eyes. She backed up a couple of steps, shaken by Julius's words.
Calliope and her crew walked right out of the hotel.noveldrama
The remaining family members stood frozen.
"What does she mean by that?" Zelda's voice trembled with a bad premonition.
"Looks like Callie doesn't care what happens to the Jewell family anymore," Horatio said quietly, his eyes cast down.
Anxiety gnawed at him. Because if Calliope really walked away for good, the Jewell family was finished.
What do you think?
