Chapter 1463
"You let me know how mercurial widows could be," Wyatt teased. His wild card threw Waverly off guard. She paused for a couple of seconds as fury started bubbling inside her. Ugh, what an unabashed man!
Waverly finally understood Wyatt's perverted smile. The thoughts in his mind were just gross!
When they got in the car, Waverly pinched Wyatt's thigh hard. It wasn't enough to vent her anger though, so kept twisting his skin red little by little. She didn't know how her actions, which would usually come off as 'annoying' and 'irritating', to him, were 'adorable' and 'bewitching'.
Quill had a belly full of anger as well. He was just trying to help, but not only did she refuse his kindness, she even seemed to imply that he was adding fuel to the fire and slandering a good man's name.
Was he that kind of person?
Quill put away his phone. The more he thought about it, the more furious he became. His beautiful face became devious as he shouted, "F*ck!"
He even took photos. He even took photos of the frigging dishes. Was it because of that d*mn thing called "love"? Did "love" eat away Raynee's d*mn brain? He really did those because he thought what Wyatt was doing was unfair to Raynee. He sure as h*ll didn't do it out of his own selfishness. However, he didn't anticipate the couple breaking up over this!
"Raynee, oh Raynee, what weird curse has Wyatt cast on you?"
Quill closed his eyes and clenched his fist.
He had lost the battle when she chose Wyatt that day, and he had admitted his defeat. It was heartbreaking, but she was happy, and that was what mattered most to him! He went overseas to forget about the couple, but perhaps somewhere deep down, he was still battling Wyatt Johnson. Maybe Raynee chose Wyatt, but Quill was going to work hard and prove to everyone that he, Quill Lewis, was on par with Wyatt Johnson!
Indeed, thanks to the hard-working real estate agents, his interior design company did really well. He even opened up a few branches, and the money kept pouring in. He thought he was successful enough, but it turned out that Wyatt had always been two steps ahead of him. He got 1.5 billion orders for that 56 internet plan alone. It disheartened Quill. If truth be told, being on par with the great Wyatt Johnson really wasn't that easy. The Four Great Masters of Casterwich City were still there, but they were more mature and stable. Before Quill left, they were all still little sprouts with nothing but potential, but now those little sprouts had grown into towering trees that touched the skies.
Quill thought that working overseas would help speed up his progress. Indeed, a few years ago, the other countries had been doing way better than his home country. Nevertheless, fortune knocked at least once at every man's door, and the four of them had opened their doors and welcomed fortune in at the right time!
It ticked Quill off. Wyatt stole his beloved woman, only to treat her like trash! That was what upset Quill the most! Now, Wyatt was spending so much on this new woman. She was probably going to waste away all his money!
What did he promise her, all those years ago? He said he'd treat her well, didn't he? He said he'd take good care of her, didn't he?
Why did she choose him? "Cause he's loyal." Yeah, he was f*cking d*mn loyal! The only reason Quill lost was being young and dumb. He never should have talked to some random girl back then!
It turned out that that random girl was luring him into a trap!
Quill really was close to screaming bloody murder at that point. He just wanted to show her Wyatt's true colors, but now, now he was frustrated that he got himself into this hot mess. He returned to the hotel and stormed toward the table Wyatt and Waverly were at, but instead of them, a young couple came into sight-
"Sir, is there something we could help you with?" The young man stood up and couldn't help but tremble a little. He couldn't blame the young man, though. Quill did look ready to kill.
Quill's face fell and his expression darkened as he turned around to leave. The young couple gaped at him and wondered what had happened.
In a luxurious personal design studio, Wyatt stood by patiently as Waverly picked out some clothes. She was used to wearing humbly, so she picked a white dress that would blend in anywhere. The material of the dress was thick and suitable for winter. It had a simple V-neck design and the dress was so long it touched her ankles. Coupled with a black belt and a pair of black heels, Waverly looked elegant yet competent. If it weren't for her long hair, she'd probably look lovelier. Waverly was very satisfied with it.
"How is it? Is it nice?"
Wyatt looked at the belle in front of him, but his gaze subconsciously dropped and he ended up staring at the V-neck collar. He gave her a reassuring nod.
"Yeah," he then proceeded to tease her, "But, of course, you'll look better if you wear nothing! Nothing can compare to that."
Now that he has mentioned it, he hasn't really seen her completely naked before!
She kept trying to cover herself up here and there, it was a real turn-off for him! Wyatt couldn't help but feel that sense of regret. Whenever he was close to enjoying her fully, she pushed him off! It was agonizing!
Waverly gave him a stank eye and felt like gluing up that mouth of his, but before she could say anything, Wyatt quickly put on a coat for her as he tried to change the subject.
"Women are just so troublesome..."
Waverly lifted her chin and snorted haughtily, "Then why did you bring me here? What a proud man."
After their meal, her attitude had softened a lot. Wyatt was surprised, but he didn't know that one single news had saved his a*s. He thought it was because of that expensive meal. Perhaps the hundreds of thousands of dollars he spent on that meal was worth it! He grinned slightly as he brushed her nose!
After exchanging ideas with the designer, the designer changed her hairstyle and made it shorter. Coupled with a pair of fancy earrings, Waverly's aura became stronger and more attractive. She no longer looked sexy or flirtatious, but instead, the woman seemed cold, distant, yet still stunning.
Wyatt paid for the clothes and played with her tiny hands. He was in a good mood.
When they walked out of the studio, Waverly no longer felt resistant toward the man. She treated him like a real boyfriend.
"It's a pity we're not convenient, else we should've gone to Victoria! I've been so busy 'cause of my dad's visiting. I didn't even know about what happened until it was all over. It was all over the news, but I just somehow didn't notice. I could've helped out or comforted her-"
Waverly couldn't help but notice the guilt stirring inside her. After all, she didn't have a lot of real, close friends, and Victoria just happened to be one of the few, but she couldn't even help her friend out. Perhaps she would give her a call the next day!
"She's all right now! We're living in a civilized society, plus the Clements family is powerful and has a lot of connections, you know. There's nothing they can't handle. You don't have to be so hard on yourself. Maybe they didn't want to reveal too many personal matters about the couple, so they didn't tell their friends too much, or perhaps they were even intentionally avoiding their friends, who knows? If they were in real trouble, she'd call you!"
He held her hand to comfort her. Wyatt liked how close Waverly and Victoria were. She was Trevor's wife, after all. It was nice to know that Waverly could mingle well with his friend's family. He didn't want to see Waverly so bitter, so he tried changing the subject once again.
"Why didn't you choose the red one, though? You'd shine in that!"
Waverly threw him a death glare and wondered if the man beside him was really that idiotic, "You're bright enough, I don't need to shine."
If she had chosen that red one, she'd probably make the headlines again! Wasn't the last one enough?
"Ah, this little mouth of yours. How many chillis have you been eating? The words that come out of that mouth of yours are burning hot!" Wyatt smiled and shook his head slightly.
The two of them arrived at Oriental Bay Hotel. The second Wyatt gave them his Centurion Card, two people came up and welcomed them. The waiters led them to their table and were very kind to them.
"Master Johnson, all the VIP guests today will be receiving a bottle of Chateau Lafite-Rothschild. Do you want to enjoy it now? Or should we wrap it up for you to bring home later? You'll have to tell us in advance! Furthermore, the free red wine we're providing today is worth hundreds of thousands of dollars-" What the waiter was trying to say was "We're offering you free expensive red wine, so you probably don't need your Lafite right now." It would probably trouble them a lot if he had chosen to enjoy his Lafite during the meal. Of course, the waiters that served there were all trained professionals. They knew how to twist their words to lead the people into choosing the option they preferred. Indeed, Waverly, who was beside Wyatt, answered without thinking, "Wrap it up for us, then!"
"Alright! This way, please."
He handed them a key for a locker and turned around as a new waiter came to
serve them.
When they entered the hall, Waverly realized that it wasn't a wine party at
all. A singer sang on a stage in the middle of the hall, and even though Waverly didn't recognize them, they seemed familiar to her. There was an enormous dance floor, too, and everyone was shaking their bodies to the beat. Some of them just followed the beat casually, some of them stood still and nodded to the beat, some discoed like there wasn't a tomorrow, while some even danced the Waltz. The dance floor was a mess, and harmony was non-existent there. There were some chairs for people to rest in, too. Some were eating and drinking, while some were chatting, but most gambled. Poker, Pai gow, sic bo, you name it, they've got it. Some were even playing with hula hoops, darts, and table tennis. noveldrama
It was really nothing like an elegant wine party!
Waverly's gaze rested on a separate large room. It was more graceful and quiet
inside. The gentlemen and ladies inside spoke softly and their actions were classy and courteous. Some were even reading, or playing chess. The peaceful world inside the room was nothing like the chaotic situation in the hall!
It was a big event indeed, and whoever planned this really put a lot of thought into
it!
Waverly's gaze landed on the gambling section. She saw a 'human stool' getting
pulled out and pushed into the
gambling table. The man pushed the woman around crudely and he looked at her with disgust. It was as
if the slender woman was just like another one of those tokens in his
hand The woman let out a dry laugh as she was pushed to the ground, and no one helped her out. To make matters worse, they even pulled up the poor woman's skirt. All of a sudden, a peal of familiar laughter echoed in Waverly's ears...
Waverly's body went rigid as she froze on the spot.
What do you think?
