Chapter 1471
At this moment, as if it was a response to both parties' feelings, a "mic drop" sounded on stage.
"For 740,000, she's yours! Congratulations to No.19—"
Wyatt thought of that sentence as sarcastic. Enraged, he thought to himself what was there to celebrate for throwing away 740,000 to buy himself hatred and trouble.
Yet, all these were part of the auction process, so he could not deny his actions. It was just like a game of chess, there was no turning back once one made their move. And it was not a matter of winning or losing, but rather about one's character - how one dealt with the process and everything in between.
Hence, regardless of how unwilling he was, he still had to admit what he had done!
As if receiving a death sentence, his words struck Waverly hard. In shock, she pushed Wyatt away with all her might in an attempt to turn around and walk towards the exit.
While she was lifting her legs sideways, she was blocked by Wyatt. "Waverly!" The halo above them was still gleaming, yet no one took notice of it. Even if they did, Waverly had had enough, so she once again shoved Wyatt.
"Go away!"
She was already embarrassed, so why should she give face to others?
Wyatt reached out to hug her. Feeling full of remorse, he lowered his voice and said, "Please don't be angry. I don't want her, I won't even lay a hand on her!"
Things were fine until Wyatt mentioned that. It made Waverly more furious, yet she knew in the back of her mind that it could just all be a mistake, and that things could have happened unexpectedly, so he was not to be blamed. Her intellect was telling her to not be calculative, but instead be considerate of the situation; or at the very least, to let go of it for the time being, and settle it behind doors
later.
Her intellect and upbringing reminded her that it was best for her to take other factors into consideration. However, she was not able to bring herself to do so. Plus, she also wanted to test the man's tolerance level!
Instead of letting go, she disregarded her screwed up reputation, and decided to cause a scene. "What's done is done, unless you'd rather go back on your word? I'm clearly not needed here anyone, and I do not intend to stay on just to be scorned upon and driven away by others!"
"As if I had nothing better to do then to come here and cause a scene?"
"Going through it once was embarrassing enough, yet I needed to face the same situation twice! I must really be out of my mind if I were to stay here!"
Waverly was clearly unhappy when she shoved him.
"Waverly, please don't get so worked up! Let's not cause a commotion, we can talk about this when we get back, or we can talk tomorrow?"
"I promise I won't touch her!"
"Not even a finger!"
Feeling heavy headed and embarrassed, Wyatt lowered his voice to coax her patiently under the eye of the tens of thousands of attendees.
Waverly was still feeling feisty, so he attempted to calm her down with a whisper, and amazingly, it worked. "Fine! There is nothing more for me to say anyway! Can you let me go now?"
Seeing that she had calmed down, Wyatt let go of her hand. As he was about to think of another way to comfort her, she dashed towards the exit. However, he was quick to catch her.
"Waverly!"
"Let me go! Didn't you say we'd talk tomorrow? Let me go!"
Even though she knew he did not mean what he said, she still held on to them.
Her voice grew louder as she continued to berate him.
"I don't want to disturb you! I'm in no hurry to talk, so I won't be disturbing you until tomorrow!"
In other words, it meant she would give him ample time to do whatever he else wanted to get done.
Waverly had originally wanted to see how tolerable he was with her, yet she had unconsciously taken things a little far. She couldn't help it after all that had happened; she just felt so wronged and angry.
Wyatt had really wanted her to give him time to settle the issue, but she was being such a handful.
Wyatt, who was already furious, started to feel anxious. At that very moment, the host and organizer of the auction came over with the woman. Surrounded by onlookers, he fell into extreme embarrassment.
"Waverly..."
These were a bunch of inconsiderate people!
"Let me go!"
Swatting his hand away, Waverly's voice croaked and it felt as though she was about to cry. At the same time, the organizer, who had been waiting for a while, pointed at the woman and said.
"Mr. Johnson, here-"
They were still waiting to complete the handover!
Wyatt, who had been holding back his anger, and was anxious, spoke curtly. "Enough! Can you not see I'm busy? Get out of my sight!"
The shout filled the air with rage so strong that it could not be ignored - it felt as though a bomb had been dropped. The music stopped, the surroundings went silent, and the atmosphere went cold-
Unaware that the sentence was targeted at the man beside her, Waverly had mistakenly thought that Wyatt had said that to her. Her heart instantly twisted in even more pain and tears welled up in her eyes.
How could he say that?
Wyatt turned around and caught
sight of her teary-eyed as she bit her lips, trying her best not to cry. She trembled, feeling as if she had been greatly mistreated. Without thinking, Wyatt reached out and held her in his arms. He wrapped his hand around the back of her head and gave her a hug so tight that it could crush her.
"That's not what I meant. I was wrong, okay? I don't want anyone but you and I won't touch anyone else too! Let's pretend none of this happened. Don't cry, please?"
The warm embrace and strong
heartbeat seemed to have driven away all loneliness she felt. Trains of
thoughts were still going a thousand miles per second in Waverly's mind, but her heart had slowly calmed itself. Neither the discussions, look from others, nor the awkwardness of the situation mattered anymore.
She unconsciously tugged the front of Wyatt's clothes, as though grabbing onto
dear life.
Wyatt wiped her tears away, lowered his head and planted kisses on her forehead, nose, and lips, as if they were the only two in the room.
"Everything's going to be okay!"
Wyatt held her hand and moved sideways to block her from all the curious eyes protectively. He then turned to the other side and responded with a cold gaze.
"I will pay for the auctioned lady. You may leave now."
As soon as he finished speaking, Wyatt looked at the girl who stood aside hesitantly. Obviously, his last sentence was meant for her. He then turned around and smiled at

and
"Just do the formalities for me!"
After taking it, the manager next to him dared not to say "no". He immediately
nodded and said, "Mr. Johnson, don't worry, I will get everything settled."
"Good."
Wyatt then immediately held Waverly in his arms. His actions were self- explanatory; the person he cared, liked and wanted the most was right next to
him!
Seeing this, everyone understood the situation and began to disperse. The two then turned around, but the woman still foolishly took the initiative to come over.
"Sir-"
Wyatt looked at her, but the girl said, "I don't want your charity, I don't want to owe you a favor!"
It was clear that she still wanted him to be her first!
Waverly raised her gaze. She was not angry this time, but she did roll her eyes at those around her.
It would be a lie to say that she was not upset. She was sure anyone in the same situation would have reacted similarly!
She had initially thought about donating her some money, but at this moment, Waverly felt that her husband was getting snatched and she was this close to completely losing her mind.
Glaring at the girl in front of him coldly, Wyatt could not care less about the way she was secretly gazing at him. The look in her eyes was all too familiar. With one hand in his pocket and the other holding Waverly's, Wyatt snorted.
"You can choose to return the favor or not, it's up to you. There are so many men here, you can easily find one to sleep with! I have no problem with that!"
After that extremely cold sentence, the two turned around to take their leave, but
the girl's eager voice sounded again.
"I'm still a virgin-"
No normal man would be able to refuse a woman who presented herself to him on
her own, especially if she was still a pure, precious virgin!
Wyatt sneered and felt that he had indeed wasted his money.
"Do I look like I'd like whatever you have to offer? Gosh, I can't believe I threw all
that money away!"
"How would you know if you don't try? I can do whatever you like!" The woman once again tried to tempt him.
"I will do whatever you want... whatever it is, I'm a better pick than a widow!"
She muttered the last sentence. She had heard others talk about how Waverly was a widow with a terrible reputation! With Waverly ruining her plans, she thought it would be alright to deliberately mention this!
What do you think?
