Chapter 1844
Her eyes turned redder, tears stubbornly welling up as if refusing to fall.
Karina, watching the girl's pained struggle, felt a pang of sympathy. She was about to say something to console her when Wilfred gently pulled her behind him, shielding her once more.
His gaze remained cold, but his tone carried an unmistakable impatience. "That's enough. This ends here. Don't come bothering us again."
The girl froze as if struck by his blunt and merciless words. Her body trembled, and at last, the tears spilled over, rolling down her cheeks and hitting the ground in heavy drops.
She opened her mouth, managing to squeeze out a broken, choked whisper: "I... I just..." But the rest of her words were swallowed by the overwhelming tide of her emotions, dissolving into silence. Wilfred frowned slightly but didn't respond further. He simply took Karina's hand and turned to leave.
Just as they were about to walk away, the girl suddenly shouted hysterically, "Wilfred, I've liked you for so long! Ever since you first spoke to me so gently, asking about my condition with such patience, I've been falling for you. I worked so hard to recover, just hoping for the chance to stand beside you. But ever since she appeared, everything has changed!"
Wilfred stopped in his tracks, but he didn't turn around. His voice was calm, almost detached. "I only see you as a patient-nothing more. My heart already belongs to someone else, and you should have realized that by now. Continuing like this will only hurt everyone involved."
The girl's shoulders slumped, her eyes shutting tightly as fresh tears streamed down her face.
When she opened them again,

Wilfred and Karina were already several steps away. She sank to the ground, Burying her head in her hands as her body shook with silent sobs. The noise of the bustling world around her seemed to fade into oblivion.
After a long while, she slowly rose to her feet, wiping her face harshly with her sleeve Pain lingered in her eyes, but it was now mixed with a trace of resolution. Clenching her teeth she turned and walked toward the
depths of the busy streets.
Karina's heart clenched as she watched the girl's lonely, resolute figure disappear into the distance. Worry filled her chest, and before she could think, she pulled her hand from Wilfred's grasp and moved to follow. Wilfred grabbed her arm, frowning in confusion. "What are you doing? After the way she just acted, why are you still concerned about her?"
Karina's words came out in a rush, her anxiety evident. "I'm worried she might do something reckless. She was so emotional just now. What if she hurts herself? We can't just stand by and do nothing!"noveldrama
Wilfred let out a long sigh, glancing in the direction the girl had gone. After a moment of silence, he said, "Fine. If it'll put your mind at ease, let's go check on her together."
Karina's eyes glimmered with gratitude as she nodded firmly. The two quickened their pace, weaving through the crowd in search of the girl.
The streets were packed with people, the din of chatter and footsteps making it almost impossible to spot one particular figure in the chaos. Karina's eyes darted around like searchlights, scanning the throng of pedestrians. Wilfred remained calmer, reassuring Karina as he retraced the route he remembered the girl taking. They moved through alleys and busy streets with determination.
At last, they spotted her at the
entrance of a quiet park. She sat
alone on a bench, her arms wrapped tightly around her knees, her head buried against them. Her small frame trembled slightly, and the sound of muffled sobs broke intermittently through the stillness.
What do you think?
