Chapter 1801
Jane gazed at Fiona's back, lost in her own thoughts for a moment before asking, "Fiona, do you think we can still be friends?"
Fiona didn't answer. She just waved her hand dismissively and headed to her seat, quickly drifting off to sleep.
The classroom buzzed with the chatter of other students, but the moment Amy walked in, the noise died down instantly. Fiona found it strange and looked up to see Amy smiling at her, a hint of mockery in her expression. It seemed Amy had quite the intimidating presence among the students.
The whispers turned into the sound of fingers tapping on phones as everyone switched to a group chat. Fiona soon realized she and Jane had been added to the conversation. Curiously, Amy wasn't in the group.
Annoyed by the constant pinging of messages, Fiona was about to mute her phone when a particular message caught her eye and sparked her interest.
Classmate A: Did you hear? The Gregory family just donated a research building and tons of medical gear to the school. Amy's not just the student council president anymore; she's also teaching our freshman courses.
Classmate B: Yeah, I heard. Apparently, the Gregory family and the Larkin family have business ties. Even after all the recent tragedies in the Larkin family, the Gregory family stuck to their word, earning a lot of praise.
Classmate C: You don't know the half of it. I got the inside scoop. The Larkin family's latest event had two sets of invites—one for the New York elite and another for the nouveau riche. It's a clear diss to the upstarts. Maybe all these misfortunes are a scheme by those who got snubbed, especially since the Larkin family screwed up first.
Fiona and Jane were stunned by what they read.
If this is true, then when Jane was showing off the invitation in the dorm and Amy let her see it, it was on purpose. But why provoke Jane like that?
Fiona mulled over the situation. If this was all Josie's doing, why was she dragged to the Woods family by Albert to apologize?
And if the Gregory family was behind
it, using Josie's situation with Fiona to stir the pot, it might lead to a clash between the Stonnell and Larkin families. The Larkin family's troubles could be exactly what the Gregory family wants. Helping the Larkin family might make them indebted to the Gregorys, or maybe the Gregory family plans to take over the Larkin family...
Fiona suddenly felt like someone in New York was pulling strings in a massive game. From Jackson's parents thirty years ago to the current drama with the Larkin and
Gregory families-what secrets were being kept?
She vaguely recalled Grandpa Woods saying that once Jackson sorted out the Woods family issues, he'd learn the truth about his parents. Could uncovering Jackson's parents' past finally solve this mystery?
All these thoughts made Fiona's head throb.
Jane, deep in thought, was typing furiously on her phone. Fiona snapped screenshots of the chat and sent them to Jackson, hoping he'd have more insight into the Woods family and could piece together more of the puzzle.
Just then, the silence was broken by a clear, feminine voice—it was Amy speaking.noveldrama
