Chapter 1805
Fiona didn't bother responding to her words; she just stood there quietly, a slight smile playing on her lips.
The more Fiona acted this way, the more Amy's fear and anxiety skyrocketed. It was like Fiona had somehow taken control of her mind, driving her to point at Fiona in a frenzy.
"How on earth do you know? How could you possibly know?"
It wasn't long before Amy's phone rang. She ranted into it, and the person on the other end seemed in no hurry to hang up, which caught Fiona's eye.
What intrigued Fiona even more was how quickly Amy calmed down, soothed by whoever was on the line, as if the anger she'd just shown had never even happened. Fiona couldn't help but wonder who wielded such influence over her.
Jane was curious too, though her curiosity was a bit different. She marveled at how Fiona could stay so cool after learning such things.
If it had been her, she'd be a wreck!
"Even if you know, what can you really do about it? The Gregory family needs me," Amy scoffed, lifting her chin with a haughty demeanor. She shot Fiona a frosty look and said, “Fiona, you were born just to die! Why do you get all this protection and expectation just because of your birth, while others are left to flounder in the mud? If you hadn't landed in the right family, who would even know your name?”
Fiona didn't feel like saying a word. She just let out a cold snort, leaving it at that.
They saw the world differently, and their power dynamics were worlds apart. There was no point in getting into a pointless argument. Honestly, she was just curious to see how Amy would react, and boy, was it explosive.
Once Amy stormed out, the classroom buzzed back to life with chatter. Nobody was talking about Amy's outburst or Fiona's backstory anymore; those conversations had been exhausted outside.
The next day, the whole class headed to the memorial museum; nearly everyone showed up. Fiona was there too, hands snug in her pockets, walking with Jane, Tyler, and Nash.
The four of them strolled side by side, radiating a certain swagger. Amy didn't even have a chance to stir up more trouble.
Until they figured out what part Amy played in all this, Fiona wasn't going to make any rash moves, and neither was Jackson. But every investigator they sent came back empty-handed, unable to dig up a thing. The Gregory family sure knew how to keep their secrets!
"The Larkin family's moved out of their old mansion. Now it's just Albert left there. Word is, after he went into the secret room, he vanished, and no one knows if he's alive or dead. The eldest Larkin son's taken over as the head of the family now."
Tyler's voice broke through her thoughts, and Fiona perked up, shooting him a curious look. After a moment, she suggested, “Let's find a time to torch the place, get rid of any loose ends."
“Sure thing,” Tyler nodded.
The downfall of the Larkin family was all thanks to the worms Fiona had forced on Josie. These weren't like the ones Josie had cooked up before; these were moist and could only be completely destroyed by fire.
They could linger in a body for ages unless the host died and was buried deep or cremated, ensuring their end.
The old Larkin mansion probably still
had some of those worms lurking, noveldrama
but they weren't going anywhere. Fiona had already made sure Tyler and the crew spread enough pesticide powder around the place to kill any worms on contact.
What do you think?
