Chapter 819 He Is Sick

Hearing that the investor wasn't Theodore, Cindy felt a bit relieved. Actually, she was still a bit worried when she talked about this with Phoebe last night.

Because of the issues with the kids, Phoebe and Theodore had fallen out. If Theodore were to think highly of Vanessa and fund her company to settle in Greenwood Tower, then Theodore is definitely not worth being with.

"Can you help find out who funded her?"

Patrick paused his eating and said impatiently, "Are you using me as a spy?"

"I wouldn't dare. If you don't want to, I'll ask someone else." Cindy acted as if she could easily find someone else and got up to leave.

Patrick grabbed her wrist and pulled her back, frowning, "Is that how you ask someone for a favor?"

"I even brought you breakfast, but it seems useless. Forget it, I know I'm not worthy of your help." Cindy's words were dripping with sarcasm.

Patrick was taken aback by her outburst. He pulled her onto his lap. Cindy tried to get up, but he held her firmly in place.

Patrick's leg bounced a bit, and his expression softened. He even found the moment to tease her, "Hmm, you're quite heavy."

Cindy wanted to dump the breakfast box on his head, but his next words made her anger dissipate.

"I don't keep tabs on other women. If you want to know, I'll have Ulysses look into it."

Cindy beamed, "Really? Then I'll thank you in advance."

"Is a thank you all I get?" Patrick raised an eyebrow playfully.

Cindy caught his hint and didn't play coy. Considering they had already kissed and she needed his help, she leaned in and kissed him on the cheek., "I'll be waiting for your good news," she said softly.

Patrick felt a warm surge in his chest from the kiss and looked at Cindy with a bit more intensity.

Cindy, unaware, stood up from his lap, "I'll go prepare the makeup tools. You hurry up and eat; you have a scene this morning."

She walked lightly to the makeup table, taking out the makeup tools one by one from the box, humming a tune happily.

Patrick listened carefully to the melody. It was a new song by a popular star, playing everywhere. He remembered Cindy saying she liked him.

Thinking of this, Patrick's face darkened, and the breakfast in front of him suddenly lost its appeal.

At the Reynolds Group, Theodore stepped out of the elevator in a black trench coat. His presence seemed to cast a chill over the office. Theodore had been in a bad mood

these days, and everyone was cautious at work, afraid of offending him.

Carol watched his figure disappear at the office door. She stood up with the files, clenched her fist to give herself some courage, and then nervously knocked on the door and went in.

After reporting the day's schedule, Carol noticed Theodore's eyes were bloodshot, as if he hadn't rested well for a long time.

She hesitated, "Mr. Reynolds, are you sick?"

"I'm fine. Go back to work." Theodore didn't even lift his head, but his voice was hoarser than a few days ago, clearly showing signs of illness.

Carol was usually quite afraid of him and didn't dare to say much, so she turned and left the office.

Actually, after Theodore and Phoebe divorced, she had thought about pursuing Theodore for a while. In terms of looks, Carol felt she was no less attractive than Phoebe.

Once, Theodore took her and Lawton to a social event. He got drunk, and Lawton booked a hotel room. They helped Theodore back to the room.

He was quite drunk, and she sent Lawton to buy some hangover medicine to get him out of the way, planning to seduce Theodore. She half-undressed and lay beside him, mustering the courage to touch him.

Theodore suddenly opened his eyes, his gaze icy cold, almost freezing her. She was so scared that she scrambled off the bed, dressed quickly, and ran out of the room.

After running out, she felt terrified. She didn't know if Theodore was sober. If he was and knew she had such thoughts about him, he would definitely fire her.

She was uneasy all night. The next day at the company, she thought she would receive a dismissal notice, but Theodore's attitude towards her was as usual, not making things difficult for her.

After that, she never dared to have any improper thoughts again.

Sitting at her desk, Carol thought more and more that Theodore's condition was off. She glanced at the closed office door and secretly took out her phone to message Phoebe: [Ms. Ziegler, Mr. Reynolds seems sick.]

Phoebe received the message during a meeting. She glanced at it and put her phone back, focusing on Uriel's speech.

But although she seemed attentive, her mind was elsewhere.

Theodore was sick?

Why?

Because of her?

After the meeting, Phoebe picked up her things and left the conference room. The head of the resources department, Otha Soderberg, called out to her, "Ms. Ziegler, I have some news about the spring talent show next year."

Phoebe snapped back to reality, "Let's discuss it in my office."

"Alright."

Otha followed Phoebe back to her office. Before he could speak, Phoebe quickly opened the delivery app and ordered a bunch of medicine, noting to deliver it to Theodore at the Reynolds Group.

She put her phone back on the desk and signaled Otha to begin.

"Kedora TV station is recruiting actors from major entertainment companies and studios. I know Mr. White from the TV station, and I've arranged for our company to have three spots. Who goes will be up to you, Ms. Ziegler," Otha said.

Phoebe leaned back in her chair, "I'll discuss this with Ms. Watson. Mr. Soderberg, since you joined the company, Superstar Entertainment has gained another key member."

"Ms. Ziegler, you're too kind. It's just my duty," Otha said modestly. Phoebe smiled, and after a few more pleasantries, Otha left. Not long after, someone from the finance department came, and Phoebe was busy all day.

She worked until the end of the day. She had promised to go home and spend time with the kids tonight. Seeing it was getting late, she packed up and went downstairs. Stepping out of the Empire State Building, she immediately saw a silver-gray Maybach parked outside. The car was still running, and the window slowly rolled down, revealing a man's proud and aloof face.

Phoebe hadn't seen him for days. Seeing him suddenly, she realized she missed him a bit. Despite his cold demeanor, he did look unwell.

She paused and walked over, stopping outside the car, "Mr. Reynolds."

The next second, a bag was thrown from the car. Phoebe quickly caught it and looked down to see it was full of the medicine she had ordered.

Her expression changed, feeling a bit awkward, "I heard you were sick, so I..."

"My illness has nothing to do with you," Theodore turned to glare at her, his eyes coldnoveldrama

and filled with resentment. He said harshly, "Are you eager to please me out of pity, or are you afraid I'll target your company?"
