Girl Get Rid Of That Jerk (Williams and Shawn)

Chapter 422

Allison chuckled. "Why would I fire you? You don't even work for me."

Mindy looked over at Joshua.

Joshua said, "Allie, she tried to stop you at the door. If you want her gone, I'll make it happen."

Mindy: "Huh?"

So no matter what, I'm doomed to get fired, huh?

Allison shot Joshua a sidelong glance. "When did I ever say I wanted her fired? I didn't even make an appointment. She was just doing her job, stopping me. Employees who actually care about their work are rare-don't just fire people for doing the right thing."

James, standing nearby, smiled softly. "Understood."

Mindy finally let out the breath she'd been holding, her heart dropping out of her throat and back into her chest.

Joshua sat next to Allison, constantly searching for something to talk about.

"There's a new sushi place on the west side. Want to try it with me sometime?"

"I'll pass. I've been super busy lately."

"You still have to eat, no matter how busy you are."

"The west side's too far. I'd just be wasting time going back and forth."

"Alright." Joshua paused for a second, then said, "How about the hot spring resort my friend just opened? We could go this weekend, get some fresh air."

Allison's face stayed cool. "I have to meet a client in Havenbrook this weekend."

"Okay."

Twenty minutes ticked by.

John still hadn't come down.

Allison glanced at her watch. "What's taking him so long?"

Joshua could only call to hurry him up.

John came down not long after.

He handed Allison the signed, stamped files. "Sorry to keep you waiting, Ms. Allison. Royce needed something last minute and I got held up."

Upstairs, Royce sneezed.

Royce: What?

The truth was, Royce had finished signing and stamping everything ages ago. John was just killing time upstairs, sipping tea and scrolling through his phone. After all those years as Joshua's assistant, he knew exactly what he was doing.

With the boss and Ms. Allison downstairs, every extra minute he waited meant more time for them alone.

He wasn't about to ruin that by hurrying down too soon.

John only made his way down when Joshua finally called.

Allison flipped through the documents, nodded when she saw

Joshua said, "Allie, let me walk you out."

Allison didn't hesitate. "No need. Brooklyn's waiting for me in the car." "Alright then."

Allison walked away.

Joshua watched her go, eyes lingering until she was out of sight.

Mindy saw the whole thing, shaking her head and clicking her tongue Looks like the boss is definitely chasing after her. No wonder Ms. Allison said she was his wife he

hasn't caught her yet.

...

Upstairs, Carolyn had been waiting in the 27th-floor lounge for almost forty minutes.

She'd called Joshua twice, but he hadn't answered either time.

Frustrated, Carolyn left the lounge and headed to the executive assistants' office.

Four desks inside, all manned by guys in matching gray suits-some typing away, others on the phone.

Carolyn picked one at random and tapped his desk. “Is Mr. Fisher still in a meeting?"

The secretary paused and looked up. "No, Mr. Fisher finished his meeting half an hour ago."

Carolyn frowned. "So where is he?

I've been waiting over forty

Secretary: "I'm really not sure, ma'am."
