Goodbye, Mr. Ex: I've Remarried Mr. Right

Garland heaved a sigh of relief. Thankfully, Juan didn't take the bait.

"We've discussed most of it. As long as you're ready, we can start our collaboration anytime," Garland replied smoothly.

Juan faltered, "Recently, my financial situation has been a bit tight, so this partnership could benefit both of us. I'm sure you wouldn't have any objections, right?"

"Of course not. It's an honor to work with a great businessman like you," Garland replied, then realized his mistake.

It was Juan who should feel honored to work with him.

Luckily, Erica and Randy were too focused on the conversation to catch that.

Juan replied, "You flatter me, Mr. Eaton. It's my honor to work with you. Let's discuss the contract next time. Something comes up, and I need to go."

The call ended, but Garland's heart hadn't fully settled.

Randy remarked, "Looks like you did contact him for us. I'm impressed."

Erica chimed in, "Sorry for doubting you."

"No worries, guys. We're all friends. I won't hold it against you," Garland said, secretly wiping his sweat.

Liza was curious. "I didn't know we had any deals with Juan. What project is it?"

Garland tensed up at the question, itching to strangle her. Now he was running out of stories.

Despite his inner struggles, Garland appeared composed on the surface.

He smiled, "It's a business secret. Once I've finalized the contract with Juan, I'll let you know."

Erica patted Randy on the shoulder. "Alright, we believe you. After all, you did this for us."

"Why do you suspect Juan anyway?" Garland asked. "What's wrong with him?"

"Plenty. You don't know how he treated Debra in the past," Erica continued. "And he promised her those shares. It was a mess. He stepped down but pushed Theda forward. I have all the reasons to suspect his intentions."

"Nah. What could he possibly be plotting?" Garland said.

Even if there was any plot, it was to protect Debra. Juan had been

worried about her dining, sleep and well-being. Garland didn't think a

man like that could be bad

"I thought you suspected Juan just like us," Erica voiced her doubt. "Why are you defending him now?"

"I've talked to him quite a bit,"
