Legend of Dragon Son-in-law

Chapter 1573: Looking for a Wife

Chapter 1573: Chapter 1573: Looking for a Wife

"You’re quite ambitious."

Julius Reed stood with his hands behind his back, looking at the spot circled on the Town map. "Ambition is like a wild beast; it might devour you at any moment."

"But at least I have self-awareness." Harry River seemed like a different person, with less panic and more calmness in his expression.

"At the very least, I’ve told you everything I know. I’ve tried, but I have self-awareness."

The conversation between the two left Elaenor Wood somewhat confused.

"What did he just say to you?" Elaenor Wood leaned toward Julius Reed, asking in puzzlement, "All mysterious-like."

"In due time, you’ll know." Julius Reed extended his hand, "The item."

"You ask me for help, yet still act so tough." Elaenor Wood sighed, spreading open his hand to reveal a miniature camera.

"Thank you." Julius Reed took the camera, chuckling softly, "It’s not every day a sage thanks you. That’s quite the honor."

"Wait until you reclaim Demarco Mount’s throne. Otherwise, you’re just a has-been!" Elaenor Wood spoke with pride.

Julius Reed didn’t argue with him but planned to find an opportunity for a good spar.

Though small, the miniature camera’s recording clarity was exceptional.

After connecting the stored footage to the computer, Julius Reed played the video.

On screen.

Devlin wielded a powerful saber, slashing forward fiercely!

The snow wave broke through the air!

Logically speaking, a cripple like Devlin should never have such skills.

Julius Reed tapped the spacebar.

Video paused.

Zoom in!

A blade!

The blade in Devlin’s hand was clearly visible.

"Harry River, come and take a look." Julius Reed gestured, and Harry River promptly walked over.

"What’s so peculiar about this blade?" Elaenor Wood also approached, "Although when Devlin struck, I did feel a strong surge of power."

Being a martial artist, one is particularly sensitive to such surges.

"Indeed, that’s precisely it." Harry River examined it and nodded, "The Overlord Saber, Heavenbreaker."

"Back at Seven Clouds Academy, I once tasked Devlin with searching for this blade. He found it and kept it hidden for himself." Julius Reed repeatedly watched the footage, leaning back in his chair, seemingly deep in thought.

"Heavenbreaker? I’ve never heard of it." Elaenor Wood shook his head.

He had been asleep for hundreds of years.

During those years, far too many things had happened.

"You helped restore a bit of my memory." Julius Reed turned his head, looking at Elaenor Wood, "Including the events at Seven Clouds Academy."

"How so?" Elaenor Wood asked, eyes filled with anticipation.

The sage was walking encyclopedia, a moving chronicle, a human camera, a witness to great events.

He carried countless secrets.

"Back then, I took Devlin to Seven Clouds Academy intending to use him to find the Heavenbreaker, using his greed to unleash those of the Undead Tribe. And with that, wipe them out in one go!"

Julius Reed didn’t tell the whole story.

He had another reason for wanting the Undead Tribe to appear.

To explore the secret to his own immortality.

Julius Reed wanted to know why he never died! f.r(e)e\webn.ovel.co\m

For countless years, he had been striving for this.

"So... you knew that Devlin would betray you?" Elaenor Wood raised an eyebrow and asked.

"Of course." Julius Reed closed the computer, stood up, and walked to the window.

Staring at the snow swirling across the sky, he spoke softly, "Devlin always thought he was a clever man, but every step he took was within my calculations."

After speaking, Julius Reed turned back. "Do you know why he was keen for me to recover some of my memory?"

"No idea." Elaenor Wood inwardly cursed.

I’ve been asleep for hundreds of years; how could I possibly know?

Isn’t this nonsense?

But he still had to keep a smiling face.

"If I had recovered my memory earlier, I would have remembered this! And realized the Heavenbreaker is with Devlin! Then, I would spare no expense or effort to protect him. So, he hopes I recover that part of my memory."

"If he dies, the Heavenbreaker will disappear, and no one will know its whereabouts. That’s why Devlin once helped me—because he knew only I could save him!"

Silence.

Elaenor Wood was contemplating.

Oh, how complex the human heart is indeed.

"Aren’t you guys exhausted from living?" he curiously asked.

"Exhausted or dead. Which would you choose?" Julius Reed retorted.

"So, what should we do now? Find Devlin and ask for the blade back?" Elaenor Wood spread his hands to indicate his reluctance to get involved.

"No! It’s to find the real Overlord Saber!" Julius Reed pointed at Harry River, "The real Overlord Saber was hidden away by him. The one with Devlin is a fake."

Elaenor Wood was somewhat astonished.

What in this world can still be genuine? noveldrama

"I’m still very curious about what Harry River said to you earlier." Elaenor Wood glanced at Harry River and questioned.

Curiosity is a human trait.

He’s no exception.

Especially after Harry River’s remarks, which slightly surprised Julius Reed, made Elaenor Wood even more intrigued.

"Once we find the Overlord Saber, I’ll tell you." Julius Reed had just finished speaking as a knock sounded at the door.

"Master, the wine is back!" Zain Ellsworth excitedly shouted from outside the door.

The sage was rumored dead?

The Medicine King Valley finally avenged!

He passed through three streets, purchasing the finest wine!

On the way, in his joy, he even drank three bottles himself!

Delightful!

There’s nothing more gratifying than vengeance in this world!

Julius Reed opened the door.

Zain Ellsworth stood stunned.

He rubbed his eyes, and the wine in his hand had been snatched away, leaving only a ’thank you.’

Bang!

The door closed.

But Zain Ellsworth hadn’t finished knocking when the door opened again.

This time, it was Elaenor Wood.

"Master, isn’t he dead?" Zain Ellsworth was incredulous!

On his way, he was humming, singing, sipping wine, and swaggering in a dance!

"Truth in dying." Elaenor Wood patted Zain Ellsworth’s shoulder, speaking earnestly, "We’re from Medicine King Valley, you know truth in dying. So while he seems normal, he’s actually close to death."

Upon hearing this, Zain Ellsworth sighed in relief.

Close to death is good news.

But how close is ’close’?

Bang!

Before he could ask further, the door closed once more.

"What was said?" Julius Reed sat at the table, setting down a dish of peanuts and pouring three glasses of wine.

"Nothing much." Elaenor Wood took a seat, lifted his wine glass, "A kind lie. By the way, why suddenly the need to drink?"

Once Julius Reed awoke, the first thing he wanted was to drink wine.

So what was his intention?

"Helping others is, in fact, helping ourselves." Julius Reed raised his glass, clinking it with Harry River and Elaenor Wood, "I remembered many things, including yours."

After speaking, he drained his glass.

"My matters?" Elaenor Wood was stunned.

"Years ago, you relinquished your rivalry with Devlin because of a woman, right? What if I told you that woman isn’t dead; would you be surprised?" Julius Reed pushed the wine glass towards Elaenor Wood, "Fill me up. After handling Town matters, I’ll help you find your wife."
