Chapter 1608: Well
Chapter 1608: Chapter 1608: Well
The sensation of a knife piercing flesh is truly unbearable.
Especially a knife that’s heated and dipped in chili oil.
One strike would render a person unconscious from pain.
Currently, the former City Lord of Swimming City is enduring such torture.
The Undead Tribe is several times more sensitive to pain than ordinary people.
This is a drawback of being undead, a suffering that every member of the Undead Tribe must endure.
But in the face of immortality, what does it matter?
Yet now...
Mackenzie Beaumont truly can’t take it anymore.
He yielded.
As the City Lord of Swimming City, he barely enjoyed a few days of prosperity and instead suffered a great deal.
"Eliezer Pine? Why did she send you here!" Isabella Warm’s knife approached Mackenzie’s throat little by little: "Speak, I can’t bear to do it."
Can’t bear to?
Mackenzie finally believed a saying.
All women are heartless like snakes and scorpions.
"Eliezer Pine asked me to guard a secret..." Mackenzie hurriedly added after speaking, "What that secret is, I have no right to know. Whether you believe it or not, my mission here is to guard Swimming City, to guard the City Lord’s Mansion."
"Is that Eliezer Pine’s original words? If I’m not mistaken, back then, the Saint personally came to Swimming City and beheaded the current City Lord. Afterwards, you came to take over." Isabella Warm stared fixedly at Mackenzie, her knife gradually getting closer: "Are you all in cahoots?"
"Yes! We were all sent by Eliezer Pine. But apart from the one who was killed, we truly know nothing." Mackenzie wasn’t afraid of dying, but this knife was clearly not meant to kill him but to torture him!
Thinking of the earlier pain, his heart twinged!
"What were Eliezer Pine’s original words?" Isabella Warm couldn’t fully trust the undead man before her, as they might also have been deceived by Eliezer Pine.
Looking back now, Eliezer Pine, once the head of the handmaidens, seemed non-competitive and single-mindedly wanted to maintain the relationships among everyone.
Yet she was constantly inciting a war among the three women!
Afterwards, she drove all three away from Demarco Mount one after another.
So that now, Demarco Mount’s power was taken over!
Isabella Warm saw it clearly; behind Cold Nelson, Eliezer Pine was certainly standing!
But she never expected, Eliezer Pine turned out to be from the Undead Tribe.
But why...
Eliezer Pine as an Undead Tribe member, looks completely different from these pale-skinned people before her?
Could it be that being undead is categorized into many types?
Mackenzie’s throat moved, and before he could figure out how to evade, the knife had already cut the skin.
"The City Lord’s Mansion is a stronghold! No matter what, it must be defended! Especially... especially the well inside the mansion..." Mackenzie finished quickly, gasping heavily.
Sweat from his head trickled down his pale skin, drop by drop.
"The well?"
Isabella Warm turned around and looked at Ian Jorden.
"In the early years, water was drawn by digging wells. There’s indeed a well in the backyard of the City Lord’s Mansion. I heard others say, that’s where Swimming City’s dragon vein is located. So it’s been abandoned for hundreds of years, no one ever dared to disturb it." Ian Jorden, after all, had served as a fake City Lord here for several years, and was familiar with every tree and piece of vegetation in the City Lord’s Mansion.
The well, there’s only that one.
It’s called the Dragon-sealing Well.
But the rumor has it that it’s where the dragon vein lies.
"I’ve really... told you everything." Mackenzie didn’t ask to live, only hoped for a quick death.
"Stay inside then."
Isabella Warm pushed him back into the soul-suppressing coffin but did not kill Mackenzie.
The soul-suppressing coffin was created by the Saint, and no one can release the person inside.
Including that toilet under Demarco Mount, which holds great significance.
Otherwise, how could it resist the emperor?
"Should we go to that well now?" Ian Jorden followed behind Isabella Warm, feeling quite incredulous.
Eliezer Pine, is she really from the Undead Tribe?
The Undead Tribe has been lurking beside the Saint all these years?
"Does it mean that the Saint’s defeat in the snowy mountain battle years ago, and the loss of memory, were all Eliezer Pine’s doing?" Ian Jorden felt his thoughts churning, utterly shocked.
What kind of people does the Saint keep around!
The Ghost Martial Tribe’s saintess, the Undead Tribe, and Pendleton’s Seven Veins!
They’d been living peacefully for hundreds of years!
Until four years ago, everything started going wrong and caused major incidents.
But even so, the Saint is still alive and well.
If it were anyone else, they would’ve perished without even leaving a corpse.
"Take me to the well." Isabella Warm swiftly left the basement, exited the room, and casually took down the dusty map of the City Lord’s Mansion hanging in the main hall.
"Alright." Ian Jorden cautiously surveyed their surroundings, ensuring no one was outside, then hurriedly led Isabella Warm to the backyard of the City Lord’s Mansion.
Only a few days after the war ended, but the City Lord’s Mansion was littered with broken rubble.
Everyone knew, it was once the center of power for the City Lord’s Mansion.
There was wealth and food.
After being looted, aside from the unmovable items, even the chairs and tables were taken away.
The entire Swimming City fell into chaos.
Stepping on discarded bricks and shattered porcelain, the two skirted around the building and arrived at a backyard overgrown with weeds.
"There it is! I also visited out of curiosity back in the day." Ian Jorden drew his longsword from his waist, cutting down grasses as he walked towards the center: "But that’s just an abandoned well, nothing unusual about it."
The well was right at the center of the backyard.
Square and stark!
Oddly though, the ground around it was covered in weeds except here, which was spotlessly clean!
The area around the well was a meter square, with no vegetation.
The surface, yellow soil had long since cracked. noveldrama
And around it, there were many already dead animals.
Strangely though, the corpses of those animals did not rot.
They dried up!
Swimming City is by the sea!
Moist, and things decay quickly.
The scene before them was extremely abnormal.
"Wait!" Ian Jorden was about to investigate but was stopped by Isabella Warm. "Better be cautious! This well is very peculiar."
She took out her phone, sent the recording of Mackenzie’s words, and then threw the card on the ground.
"The stranger this well is, the more it indicates a hidden secret here." Ian Jorden was somewhat impatient: "Having found a clue with such difficulty, let’s just go down and take a look!"
The Saint had given them a deadline, and Ian Jorden felt the pressure increasing!
There was already a formal rebellion over at Demarco Mount, and Boulevard had also stepped in.
The Undead Tribe, Pendleton, and others, more and more forces unfavorable to the Saint, were surfacing!
If they couldn’t provide the Saint with strong support, Ian Jorden would rather go kill the enemies himself, dying for his noble cause!
"Have you been here before?" Isabella Warm pointed at the well and slightly frowned: "When you came here before, was it like this without a single blade of grass?"
Ian Jorden thought about it. It seemed that this was indeed the case.
The last time he came, there wasn’t the desolation he saw now.
The vegetation was lush.
"Eliezer Pine can hide by the Saint’s side for so long, proving she’s a person of great cunning." Isabella Warm opened the map in her hand and looked at it carefully.
"Let’s go here!"
She pointed to a place on the map farthest from the well: "Go here and take a look!"
