My Love Until the Last Goodbye (Mary and Maximus)

Chapter 1159

"Alden, did you check out the info I sent you?" Marcus asked as he saw him come

in.

"Yes, sir, I'm reviewing it. As soon as I have a conclusion, I'll send it over. But it looks like a good investment."

"Great, I'll be waiting for your feedback..."

Marcus kept investing in small businesses, but Alden was the one helping him evaluate them. Peter had once mentioned that his son was great at that, so Marcus started trusting the guy.

"My love, not here. We already talked about this-no work talk at the table, gentlemen."

"Serenity, what time does Lucius arrive in Hesperia?" Valerie asked, worried.

"He lands at 10:00 a.m. Hesperia time. I already told Frederick and Camille to go pick him up."

"Perfect. I was a little worried, him arriving alone with the baby..."

"We're all worried. Lucius is impulsive, and it seems he was really set on coming alone," said Marcus seriously.

"Yeah, so much so that he didn't tell anyone until just yesterday," said Serenity, recalling what Laura had told her.

"I don't even want to think about what Moriarty had to say..." Marcus muttered, remembering the man who derailed his entire revenge plan.

"Hmm, Lucius told me that Moriarty just told him to be careful and stay out of trouble, that he's a father now and should act like it. Oh! And that he should find a nanny soon-ideally a mother for Amanda..."

"Moriarty, always so blunt," Alden said, remembering his own run-ins with the

man.

"That guy's scary," said Valerie, recalling the brief contact she had with him while they were in Valentia.

"Yeah, a bit. But it seems like your brother and him actually got along, at least better than with Maximus," said Marcus, remembering some moments he'd seen them together.

"That Maximus guy must be fuming over the weird bond between Moriarty and Lucius."

"I think Angela really helps. That woman is a sweetheart. I think she's actually the soft side of both of them. Feels like she's acted like a mother to Lucius, even though they're not far apart in age," Serenity said, remembering their conversations.

After a long breakfast, everyone got ready to leave for Solaria. Serenity knew how important this moment was for her mother, and she understood that her mom needed all the support from her family right now. So, even if she would've liked to be with her brother, her mother and grandfather came first.

That left Lucius in the care of Frederick and Camille, who hadn't

already accepted that those two were living their final chapter and weren't about to waste it surrounded by babies and responsibilities.

Frederick enjoyed good food and nice places, and he was finally getting the rest he deserved after stepping away from business. Camille, for her part, never imagined that in what she considered the final stage of her life, she'd be seeing all the places Frederick was taking her to.

She never pictured herself walking into luxury restaurants, cafés, or buying ridiculously expensive clothes.

All of it was Frederick's doing, and she was happy to be pampered. What had started as a friendship for both had become something much deeper-a love and partnership on a whole different level.

They both knew time was no longer something to waste, so they spent it traveling and enjoying everything life had to offer.

Camille now lived with more peace.

Her daughters were working and living quiet lives-or as quiet as young single women could. It was clear she hadn't disconnected from them, though they tried not to cause any trouble. They knew their mom had spent most of her life alone, and they were grateful someone had come into her life to give her all the love she deserved.
