Chapter 60
Chapter 60:
Before I could respond, Kade joined us, looking like some GQ model in his black silk shirt and tailored pants—a stark contrast to his snow-white hair. He extended his arm, and I looped mine through his without hesitation. The moment we moved toward the exit, I could feel Ryder’s heated gaze searing into my lower back. Arrogant prick.
Just to confirm, I glanced back—and yep, there he was. Eyes full of mischief and lust, smirking like the devil himself. He knew exactly what he was doing, and worst of all, he was reveling in it. Typical Ryder.
I narrowed my gaze and shot him a silent, “You’ll pay for this” look. That cocky smile only grew wider, as if daring me to make a scene.
Rolling my eyes, I flipped him off. His laughter echoed through the room, loud and amused. What the hell was so funny?
“Shall we?” Kade’s voice snapped me out of my thoughts.
“Yeah, let’s get the hell out of here,” I muttered, turning my back on Ryder for good.
The night air hit me like a splash of cold water as we stepped outside, clearing my head just enough for me to breathe. I let out a heavy sigh, relieved to finally be away from that circus.
“So, why the escort, Kade?” I asked, breaking the silence as we walked down the dimly lit hall.
“Your little run-in with Isabel isn’t something she’ll let slide. The Alpha doesn’t want to take any chances.”
Oh, so now Ryder cared whether his psycho fiancée ripped me apart? Was Isabel really as terrifying as everyone made her out to be? Seraphina had painted her as the ultimate villain, and now Kade was reinforcing the same image. Guess I’d have to find out for myself.
When we reached my door, I quickly bid Kade goodnight. Seraphina helped me out of my dress, the fabric slipping off my skin like a second layer of stress lifting away. Finally, some peace.
I turned on the shower and stood still, letting the cool water cascade down my body. It washed away the tension from the night, soothing my nerves and clearing my thoughts. I stayed under the spray for longer than usual, soaking up the quiet, but eventually emerged, wrapping a towel tightly around me. As I stepped into the room, the only light came from the moon outside and the dim glow of the streetlights. Everything felt calm—until someone cleared their throat behind me.
I nearly jumped out of my skin.

“What the actual fuck?” I hissed, spinning around to find Ryder lounging on my couch like he owned the damn place. Or maybe he did. Yes, I freaking knew. But this was a room he gave me, and the least I needed was privacy from him. He chuckled, eyes sparkling with that familiar amusement. “Thought we could have a chat.”
Oh really? A chat with him bursting into my room like he owned the damn place? I glared at him, heat rising in my chest. “I need to change,” I said, my voice low but firm, trying to salvage whatever dignity I had left.
“You can change while I’m here,” he shrugged, like it was the most normal thing in the world. His voice dipped into that low, husky tone that usually sent shivers down my spine—but not tonight.
I folded my arms across my chest, unimpressed. “Like hell I will. Get the fuck out,” I snapped, pointing toward the door. My foot tapped impatiently against the floor, daring him to push me further. “Fucking pervert,” I muttered under my breath.
Ryder shrugged again, making himself more comfortable as he slouched deeper into the couch, his legs stretched out arrogantly. “I’m not going anywhere, Jasmine.”
I huffed, rolling my eyes. “Fine, whatever. I’ll change in my room. But you better be gone by the time I come back out.” How dare he show up uninvited and act like he owned the place? This was the fourth time this week that he’d pulled some sneaky shit like this.
His mocking laughter followed me as I stomped to my bedroom. “If you don’t know what privacy means, Ryder, I’d be happy to educate you,” I spat over my shoulder, sending him a look that could have cut glass.
