The Ex-Wife's Burning Elegance

Chapter 1016

The Williams family

As the report came in, every member of the Williams family looked grim.

Israel sneered. "I told you she'd run when things went south, but you wouldn't listen. Look at her now-Stella's still desperately trying to get away. She's cornered, and she knows it."

Skyler shook his head. "Star would never do something like that. There must be some misunderstanding."

He turned to his brothers, his tone firm. "Coleman, Israel, you can bring her back, but not a hair on her head is to be harmed."

Coleman nodded. "Father, you have my word. No matter what, she's still our sister. We won't hurt her."

Skyler's expression finally eased.

Not long after, Coleman's phone rang again.

On the other end, his assistant sounded frazzled, nearly panicked.

"Mr. Coleman, we can't catch up to Ms. Cameron's car. Worse, she's managed to crash several of our vehicles-our losses are piling up..."

Coleman laughed in disbelief. "Are you telling me that with all your men, you still can't stop a single car?"

He shook his head, almost amused. In his mind, as long as Stella hadn't left Solmaris, she was only delaying the inevitable. Bringing her back should be as easy as snapping his fingers.

His assistant's voice trembled. "Sir, she's your sister. We can't go all out against her. And honestly, her driving is unreal-if we don't block her off ahead of time, we can't even get close."

Coleman's eyes turned cold. "If you can't catch up, then set up roadblocks. Do I really have to spell out every little thing for you?”

The assistant sounded on the verge of tears. "Sir, her car must have been specially modified. She broke through every blockade, and there's nothing we can do. Plus, she's weaving through the busiest parts of the city-there are just too many cars around. We can't deploy spike strips without causing chaos." noveldrama

Solmaris was a city ruled by several powerful families, not just the Williams. Blocking off busy streets was already pushing their luck; throwing down spike strips would cross a line and make enemies fast. If they delayed the wrong person, grudges would be inevitable.

Coleman understood this. His face grew darker, but he said nothing. Stella was still in Solmaris—she'd get caught sooner or later. There was no need to turn the whole city upside down.

After a moment, he spoke. "Send more people. Keep following them, and try to force her onto a street we can control."

But another hour passed, and the tension in the room was palpable. Still, there was no sign of Stella.

Israel finally snapped. "Coleman, how much longer is this going to take? We haven't heard a word!"

Coleman's brow furrowed as he reached for his phone to call for an update, but before he could dial, his assistant called again.

This time, the assistant's voice was tinged with panic.

"Sir, her driving is just too good-we can't get anywhere near her. And now, there are crowds gathering everywhere to watch the chase. It's making things even harder. We've lost more men, and the city's practically in chaos. So many cars have been caught in the Crossfire...”

He paused, voice shaking. "She's driving like a lunatic-barreling through city

streets, ignoring everything and everyone. Sir, this can't go on."

The assistant hesitated, then pressed on "She's deliberately luring us in and intentionally crashing into vehicles even some belonging to other major families. Some of those cars are wrecked, and the people inside were seriously hurt. They've been rushed to the hospital-we don't even know if they'll make it. If this keeps up, I'm afraid... I'm afraid-"
