The Heartbreak Prescription

Shaun truly valued his bond with Warren, but he also loved Halsey and their child deeply. They were his bottom line.

So, he sincerely asked Warren to stop judging Halsey so harshly and to never do anything that could hurt her or the baby. Otherwise, their friendship would be over.

Warren gave a half-smile. “Got it. Just finish up those documents, and you’ll be free to go home and be with Ms. Mallin and the

baby.”

Shaun nodded. “Alright.”

He lowered his head and began reviewing the documents.

Warren stepped out of the office, suddenly feeling uneasy. He wasn’t sure how the conversation between Chelsea and Halsey was going.

He took out his phone and dialed Chelsea’s number.

At that moment, Chelsea was still at the villa and hadn’t left yet. When she saw Warren calling, she answered the call.

“Hey.”

Holding the phone tightly, Warren asked, “How’s the talk with Ms. Mallin going?”

“We’re still talking,” Chelsea replied.

“She’s pregnant with Shaun’s baby, so don’t provoke her or do anything that might harm the child,” Warren warned her.

Chelsea immediately caught the shift in his tone. “What’s going on with you? I thought you couldn’t stand her. Now it sounds like you’re trying to protect her.”

Warren paused for a few seconds, then asked, “Do you think…maybe we were wrong?”

Chelsea was stunned. “What? Wrong about what?”

Warren continued, “Shaun’s our best friend, the closest we’ve got. We both know how well he’s treated us all these years. As his friends, shouldn’t we want him to be happy? We all know he loves Halsey, and he’s happy when he’s with her. So why are we trying to tear them apart? Is it really our goal to see him miserable?”

Chelsea’s expression changed. She hadn’t expected Warren to switch sides so fast and suddenly defend Halsey.

Warren had always been her sharpest weapon. If he stopped helping her go after Halsey, what was she supposed to do?

“Warren, what’s gotten into you? We agreed we couldn’t just stand by and let Shaun throw his life away on Halsey. Have you forgotten what she did to him back then?”

Warren thought for a moment. “But is it possible that there was some misunderstanding about what happened back then?”

Chelsea’s face turned pale. “What are you talking about?”

“I mean,” Warren said, “I can feel it. Halsey loves Shaun, too. Otherwise, why would a wealthy heiress like her choose to stay by his side? She even raised Maddy like her own. Could someone like that really be trying to hurt Shaun?”

Chelsea’s fingers curled tightly. She hadn’t expected Warren to start doubting the past.

Before she could say anything, Warren asked, “Can you put Halsey on? I want to ask her something myself.”

But Halsey wasn’t there anymore. Gilbert had already taken her away.

Chelsea’s heart skipped a beat. The last thing she needed was Warren turning on her now. noveldrama

“What are you saying?”

“I want to talk to Halsey directly. Just hand her the phone.”

Chelsea gripped her phone. “You’re breaking up! I can’t hear you clearly. Maybe your signal’s bad. Anyway, I’m gonna hang up

now!”

With that, she quickly ended the call.

She needed to buy more time.

Warren stared at his phone, listening to the busy tone on the other end. His expression darkened.

Something felt off about Chelsea.
