Chapter 99
Chapter 99 (+50)
Gabriel's face twisted with emotion as he looked at me, the weight of our five years together hanging in the silence. Under the harsh hospital lights, his eyes glistened, and his jaw tightened as he struggled to hold himself together.
"But can you stay with me? My mom can't-she's married and living in another state. Her husband would worry if she stayed here. I need someone here, Issa..."
It was a shameless request, and we both knew it. Gabriel was using it as an excuse to stay close to me. But I agreed anyway- we were in the same hospital, on the same floor. Grayson's bodyguards could help if needed, and handling meals would be simpler.
This was also my way of thanking him for saving my baby and me.
"It's fine. Better than staring at my own walls anyway."
He didn't smile—I knew he couldn't. He was hurting. And once we returned to LA, I was sure he'd hardly see me again.
A commotion erupted outside the door, Monica's raised voice making it clear she was in a heated argument with someone.
Before anyone could react, the door slammed open, and Sabrina stormed in, Leo trailing closely behind.
"I knew it! You're here!" the woman snapped at me, her voice laced with anger. "Gabriel, I'm sorry. She insisted on coming," Leo said apologetically.
"This is a hospital ward. My son needs rest, not your drama!" Monica scolded.
"I just want to watch over my future husband," Sabrina's gaze shifted to Monica. “I know you hate me, but I'm Gabriel's woman now!" Then, she turned to me, her expression sharp with accusation. "And you-don't you feel any shame? You nearly got him killed, and here you are, being comfortable?"
I met her gaze steadily before letting a smirk tug at the corner of my lips.
"Over my dead body!" Monica's voice shook with fury. "You think I don't see through you? I will never let you marry my son -you seduced him!”
Sabrina looked like she was about to cry, and Gabriel immediately tensed.
Gabriel kept his voice deliberately gentle, mindful of Sabrina's pregnancy. "I thought we discussed this. You were supposed to stay in Los Angeles, where it's safer for you and the baby. Being in a hospital environment isn't good for you right now."
"But I want to be with you! How can I stay away when she's here?" Sabrina gestured sharply toward me.
A flash of frustration crossed Gabriel's features. "Isabella is here as a patient, Sabrina. She needs medical care, just like everyone else in this hospital."
"You're lying! She's trying to win you back-I can see it!"
Gabriel didn't answer her. Instead, he called out to his assistant, "Leo!"
Shaking my head at Sabrina's jealousy, I found it almost amusing. The corner of my mouth curled upward as I addressed her.
"You know, Sabrina, I'm showing my gratitude by keeping Gabriel company while the doctors monitor my condition. Don't worry-I'll take good care of him while you're gone," I taunted.
She screamed and tried to lunge at me, but Leo and Monica quickly stepped in to restrain her.

"Stop right there!" A sharp voice echoed from the doorway. "What exactly do you think you're doing to my wider Grayson's eyes narrowed dangerously.
"Mr. Blake! Isabella is the one trying to seduce Gabriel!" Sabrina's voice wavered with accusation.
Grayson's voice carried a dangerous edge. "That wasn't my question. Were you about to assault my pregnant wiler
I rolled my eyes and puffed out my cheeks. "Gray, she's stressing me out... and my baby
Sabrina tried to defend herself, "But she-"noveldrama
Grayson cut her off with an icy tone. "Didn't I warn you last night to stay away from Isabella? Don't test my ability to make your life exceptionally difficult."
Sabrina's eyes darted to Gabriel, pleading. “Gabriel, please...
"Let's go!" Leo said firmly, pulling her out of the room.
Monica's quiet acknowledgment broke the tension. "We meet again, Mr. Blake..."
Grayson gave a brief nod before focusing his attention on me. "You should go back to your room."
"Actually," Gabriel interjected, his voice carrying a note of challenge, "Isabella promised she'd take care of me?
Grayson raised an eyebrow slightly as he looked at me, sensing the emotions hidden behind my innocent expression
"Well... I'm showing my appreciation. After all, Gabriel did save me. It's only natural I'd want to help while we're both here, right?"
A knowing smile played at the corners of Grayson's mouth. "Unfortunately, Mr. Sterling, aside from your bacterial wound, plenty of medical equipment exists here. We both know it's bad for the pregnant woman. But since we're grateful for your help, I'll personally look after you."
Gabriel pursed his lips. "How generous of you, Mr. Blake. Please, take care of me then."
Their exchange sent an involuntary shiver down my spine. Beneath their polite words, there was something darker-a quiet struggle for control, with me caught in the middle.
"I'll be back," Grayson said, breaking the silence as he gently pushed my wheelchair out of the ward.
Monica stood there, speechless, her eyes shifting between us as she seemed to sense the tension and malice. Just before we left the ward, I noticed the pink phone lying on the floor.
I recognized it immediately-it belonged to Sabrina, likely dropped when Leo
pulled her out. Without hesitation, I reached down to retrieve it.
There had to be something on this phone that would give me an edge.
Once we reached my room, I handed it to Grayson. "You know what needs to be done."
He smoothly tucked it into his pocket, then helped me onto the bed. Grayson's team would clone Sabrina's phone within minutes before anything could be deleted or changed. Then, the device would be returned to the hospital's lost and found, where she would eventually come looking for it. She'd be wary if s. discovered it had fallen into our hands.
"You think Ms. Morrison isn't telling the truth about her pregnancy?" His tone was knowing, not accusing.
I nodded. It was strange how, without a word, we seemed to be thinking the same thing.

"I owe Gabriel for saving two lives. But whether he takes responsibility for Sabrina's child doem't concern me. I'm more interested in exposing her. She's tried to drag my name through the wind more times than I can count-it's only fair to return the favor"
"Whatever you wish."
My fingers traced the line of his cheek, seeking comfort in his familiar presence.
"Tell me about the police station. What happened there?"
What do you think?
