A Surprising Twist of Fates (Sierra and Theo)

Chapter 293 Support

If Theo had someone he liked, then so be it-they could just get a divorce. That

had been Sierra's plan from the start, anyway.

As for that kiss, she'd just pretend she got bitten by a dog.

She would bury the unusual feelings lingering in her heart deep.

After drying her hair, she stepped out of the bathroom and paused when she saw Theo sitting against the headboard, frowning at a document. She quickly regained her composure and took a pillow. "I'll sleep in the guest room."

Theo's expression darkened. His thin lips pressed together as he got up and blocked her path. "Why?"

Sierra avoided his gaze and tried to keep her voice steady. "We are not suited for sharing a room."

His expression remained unreadable. "A married couple isn't suited to share a room?"

She choked on her words. Technically speaking, not only was it appropriate, but it was also legally justified.

Yet...

Seeing that she was still holding onto the pillow, unwilling to let go, Theo's eyes flashed with helplessness. He lowered his gaze, patiently saying, "Don't listen to Douglas' nonsense. Melody and I have nothing to do with each other."

She didn't know whether to believe him. Images of Benson swearing that he only saw Sophie as a sister flashed through her mind he had been just as firm back then. And yet, he had still ended up in bed with Sophie.

Remembering that, she didn't dare to trust Theo's words. She lowered her head and was determined to sleep in the guest room.

Theo, who had never coaxed anyone before, felt completely at a loss. His usual imposing air had already dissipated.

He had a gut feeling that their relationship would be hanging by a thread if he let her leave now.

"Sierra." He sighed and pulled her firmly into his arms. In a rare moment of patience, he explained, "Douglas and I grew up together. Melody was part of our social circle and went to the same school, but I was never close to her.noveldrama

"If I had liked her at any point over the past ten years, don't you think we would have been together already?"

At first, she struggled in his arms, but his explanation stirred something unfamiliar inside her, and her resistance weakened.

Sensing her softening attitude, he pulled her to sit down. He placed both hands on her arms and looked her in the eyes. "If there's ever an issue, just ask me directly. I won't hide anything from you."

Her expression flickered as she wavered.

He gently smoothed her slightly messy hair and coaxed in a calm voice, "We're husband and wife, Sierra. Try trusting me more. Don't be so quick to think about leaving, okay?"

She couldn't quite describe how she felt-somewhere between doubt and hesitation, tinged with an unexpected trace of joy. Her delicate brows furrowed into a tiny knot.

A finger lightly tapped between her brows. His voice was low and gentle. "No need to rush with an answer. You have all the time you need to see whether I'm telling the truth."

Her brows slowly relaxed, and her gaze cleared as she looked at him with wide, bright eyes.

His eyes darkened as he looked at her. Covering her eyes, he said in a husky voice, "Don't just convict me in your heart next time something like this happens. I have feelings too, and I'll get hurt."

Sierra's body stiffened slightly. Then, one of her hands rested softly on his wrist. "Let go."

Her delicate voice only stirred something deeper inside him. He immediately released her and got up, heading straight for the bathroom.

She remained where she was, watching his retreating figure in an utterly confused state.

Half an hour later, Theo walked out with damp hair.

"You already showered earlier, haven't you?" she remarked, looking up from her sheet music with a puzzled expression.

He had been wearing pajamas earlier, which meant he had already showered in another bathroom. Why was he taking another shower now?
