Chapter 1852
Wilfred's words hit right where it mattered most, resonating deeply with the nurse. She sighed heavily, while the others shook their heads and muttered their own exhausted complaints, clearly worn out.
"Exactly. But what can we do? She's a patient sent to us, so we've got no choice but to deal with it," the nurse replied, her voice tinged with resignation.
It was then that she noticed Karina standing beside Wilfred. The way Karina seemed naturally close to him caught her attention. Though the two didn't speak much, their dynamic was apparent even in their body language.
Karina instinctively leaned slightly toward Wilfred, her posture subtly tilted in his direction-something she herself probably hadn't realized.
The nurse's eyes glinted with understanding, and a knowing smile spread across her face. When she spoke again, there was an unmistakable hint of teasing in her tone. "Still, Dr. Wilfred, you shouldn't have brought someone else into this situation." She gestured subtly toward the patient on the bed, assuming her voice was low enough to be discreet.
But Karina overheard every word. Her eyelashes fluttered nervously as she glanced at Wilfred, trying to gauge his reaction. To her surprise, his expression remained calm and unreadable.
"Let's go inside," Wilfred said, his tone steady, brushing off the nurse's remark entirely.
The nurse didn't stop them, stepping aside to let them pass.
As soon as they entered, the girl on the bed spotted Wilfred. Though the sedative had calmed her considerably, her eyes still lit up the moment she saw him.
"Wilfred, you came to see me! I knew you'd come!" she exclaimed, her voice filled with misplaced excitement.
She immediately reached for him, pulling him closer as she began to pour out her grievances, telling him how long she'd been waiting and how hard it had been for her.
Karina, who had come in with him, suddenly felt invisible. The girl acted as though she didn't exist, her presence completely ignored. It was an unsettling feeling.
But Wilfred's response quickly put her discomfort to rest.
He took a small step back, just enough to slip out of the girl's reach. The movement was subtle yet deliberate, creating a clear sense of distance without coming across as rude. "We're here to help you with your treatment," he said coolly.
Then he glanced at Karina, his voice softening noticeably as he instructed her, "Get the equipment ready."
Karina's unease instantly melted
away, replaced by a flush of warmth. Embarrassed by how easily he seemed to read her feelings, she

She couldn't quite understand how Wilfred always seemed to notice when she felt off. But she couldn't deny that this sensitivity was one of the reasons she liked him so much. The girl, however, reacted very differently.
"I'm not sick!" she screamed, her
voice rising in a frenzy. "Why do you all keep saying I'm sick? I thought you were different, but you're just like the rest of them!"
With a sudden burst of energy, she jumped off the bed, her movements wild and unrestrained.
"Wait!" Karina called out, moving to stop her, but the girl shoved past her forcefully. Caught off guard, Karina stumbled and fell to the side.
Wilfred immediately caught her, his voice low with concern. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine," Karina replied, shaking her head as she steadied herself. "We need to catch her before something happens!"
They quickly abandoned the equipment and ran after her. The staff at the rehabilitation center also sprang into action, chasing after the girl.
Despite her frail appearance, the girlnoveldrama

many people searching for her, she managed to disappear. They combed through every corner of the facility and surrounding area but found no trace of her.
The staff was on the verge of panic. Losing a patient was a serious matter, and the weight of the responsibility hung heavily on them. Karina felt guilty and apologized repeatedly. "I'm so sorry. We didn't expect this to happen. We'll do everything we can to help you find her." The rehabilitation center staff, while clearly stressed, didn't place much blame on them, understanding the unpredictable nature of the situation.
What do you think?
