Richest Mogul

Chapter 1702

Skylar froze for a moment.

Thora continued, "The divorce was his idea. Honestly, he's been harboring dissatisfaction for a while now. I've decided to let it go. It could be for the best.

"When he calms down and looks for me again, I'll tell him how to contact you. I'll have to trouble you with this, Mrs. Martin."

Skylar agreed, though she felt somewhat surprised. She had Thora's contact on Instagram and occasionally saw her posts. From what she had seen, Thora and her husband, Hubert Shaw, seemed to have an enviable relationship.

Without children, she and Hubert enjoyed plenty of quality time together— traveling often and cooking meals at home. Everything seemed loving and harmonious.

It was hard to believe they had truly divorced.

It probably wasn't simply because of a negative item. Skylar couldn't help but sigh.

Outside the courthouse, Thora ended the call and was about to hail a cab.

"Wait! Thora, wait!" Hubert's voice rang out behind her, calling after her loudly.

She paused and turned around to look at him, dropping the hand she had raised to flag down the car.

Hubert stood there, his eyes no longer bloodshot, his expression calmer, his emotions seemingly steadied.

Without the negative item influencing him after their divorce, Hubert had regained

a degree of self-control. For the first time, he seemed truly lucid.

"How did we end up here? Divorced? I... I've been so irrational these past few days. I can't even make sense of myself. I don't even like kids.

"So why was I so obsessed with

forcing you to try IVF? And when you refused, I made divorce the solution? T

That's... That's not really how feel at all." Hubert's voice was laced with disbelief and self-doubt.

Thora looked visibly drained. She hadn't slept much the night before, her thoughts racing through the night.

"The vial-shaped emerald pendant around your neck-it's a negative item. It influenced your thoughts. You've never wanted children or cared for them, but the pendant feeds you a compulsion-a fixation on becoming a father, no matter the cost," she explained calmly.

For years, their friends considered Thora and Hubert the ideal couple. They were

often described as a model of a perfect marriage.

Whenever someone mentionednoveldrama

them, it was often accompanied by remarks, like, "If our marriage were as harmonious as theirs, we wouldn't even need kids. Raising children is just too exhausting."

But in reality, things were more complicated. But behind closed doors, where no

one else could see, there were moments of dissatisfaction and even heated arguments.

"A negative item... The vial-shaped emerald pendant is one?" Hubert's expression changed as he processed Thora's words.

He knew exactly what a negative item was, having heard countless stories about them over the years.

What he hadn't anticipated was that he had one day come into contact with one himself. Worse, it had been able to alter his very thoughts.

It had stripped him of his self-control, and under its influence, he had irrationally pushed for a divorce from Thora.
