The Last Time I Loved Him (Autumn and Ryan)

Chapter 73

I tried even harder to be good to him. Whenever there was a disagreement between us, I would always lower my head without hesitation. Because I knew that meeting Easton was my luck.

But I never expected that he was the one who had been the demon behind it all.

"Easton, if it weren't for me, you wouldn't have been able to get Amina, right? Now that you've got her, you've forgotten about me."

Suddenly, a familiar voice pulled my thoughts back. I looked through the crack in the door.

To my shock, Kaylee, the one who had cut ties with me, was sitting in my house, leaning on Easton's shoulder.

Easton seemed to thoroughly enjoy the worshipful look in Kaylee's eyes, a smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.

"Isn't it because you wanted to be with Easton, but he didn't want you? So, you decided to use Amina to do him a favor," said one of Easton's friends from the other end of the sofa, laughing loudly. Kaylee wasn't angry. She stroked Easton's thigh with one hand, her eyes full of seduction.

"And now? Can Easton look at me now?"

Easton stared at Kaylee, but didn't speak.

I noticed his Adam's apple move as he swallowed.

At that moment, the ringtone of a phone broke the tension, its crisp melody echoing through the rainy night.

The people in the room panicked for a moment.

As I answered the phone, I pushed the door open. Easton, seemingly shocked, pushed Kaylee off him and stood up. "Amina, what are you doing back so early? Didn't you say you'd be home late?"

I didn't hear a word the boss said on the other end of the phone. I just tightly gripped the document folder in my hand.noveldrama

"The boss asked me to come back to get a proposal. The project owner is here tonight, so I might be able to sign the contract," I said, trying to control my anger, speaking coldly.

When Easton heard this, he seemed to relax a bit.

"You could've called ahead, so I could've brought it over and saved you from having to run in the rain," he said, walking toward me and wrapping his arm around my waist. He then turned to look at the people sitting on the sofa, his expression awkward. "These are some good buddies from university. We haven't gotten together in a long time, so I brought a bottle of good wine to share."

Easton completely ignored Kaylee.

He knew how much I hated her.

Kaylee stood up and provocatively looped her arm through Easton's.

"Amina, it's been a while. You're doing pretty well, huh? After everything, you still managed to find such a good husband in Easton."

Kaylee used to be a well-known online celebrity, with a small but decent following. Recently, with the rise of newer influencers, she had faded into obscurity and became a has-been.

The events from five years ago felt like a nightmare that often haunted me at night. Kaylee, clearly, was trying to rub salt in my wounds.

Easton subtly shook off Kaylee's hand, his face showing some discomfort.

"Kaylee, you came here with Peter today, so I can't say much, but don't push your luck," Easton said, his words harsh but his tone showing no real anger.
