The Last Time I Loved Him (Autumn and Ryan)

Chapter 74

He habitually shifted the blame onto others.

Upon hearing Easton's words, Kaylee immediately lowered her head, looking aggrieved.

"Easton, I just feel sorry for you. You've taken care of her all these years without complaint, and you never judged her past. If I were Amina, I would definitely give you all my property."

When the word "property" was mentioned, Easton's eyes lit up for a moment.

I gripped the file folder tightly in my hand, gave them a cold glance, and then turned and went upstairs.

As I reached the corner, I heard voices from downstairs.

"Do you think she overheard everything we just said?"

Easton patted his chest in self-assurance.

"Impossible. From what I know about her, that event hurt her so deeply. If she'd heard it, she would have gone crazy. There's no way she'd be this calm. She probably just saw Kaylee, so she's in a bad mood." I packed all the real estate certificates and gold bars from the safe into my bag.

When I came downstairs, the mess in the living room had already been cleaned up. Easton stood at the foot of the stairs, trying to please me. When he saw the bag in my hand, he looked a bit confused. "Didn't you go to deliver a document? Why are you carrying a bag?"noveldrama

I glanced at Kaylee, who was still sitting on the sofa.

"I was worried the client might be dissatisfied, so I brought the computer in case any last-minute changes are needed."

Easton visibly relaxed.

"You're such a hard worker."

I shook my head.

"Not at all. You've been taking care of me recently, so it's nothing.

You should enjoy your time with your friends today. I remember there's still a good bottle of wine in the cabinet. I won't disturb you guys."

As soon as I finished speaking, Kaylee, as if she were the mistress of the house, walked straight to the wine cabinet and took out the bottle of wine I had kept for a long time.

"Easton, we're going to drink until we're drunk tonight!"

Kaylee raised an eyebrow at me as she said this, a smug smile on her face.

Easton glanced at my expression and, seeing that I had no reaction, hurriedly put his arm around my waist and pushed me toward the door.

"Amina, it's getting late. You should go now and come back soon."

How badly he wanted me to leave.

"I have to work on the project tonight. I have a proposal meeting early tomorrow, so I won't be coming back tonight."

At the door, I turned back to Easton and spoke again.

Easton was momentarily stunned, but his smile grew wider, almost as if he couldn't hide his pleasure.

"Okay, Amina. Don't overwork yourself. Make sure to rest."

I nodded and waved at him.

"Go ahead and join your friends. Don't keep them waiting."

With that, I disappeared into the rain.

Easton, who always prided himself on being a model husband, didn't notice that I hadn't brought an umbrella. Instead, he hurriedly closed the door behind me. Just as the door clicked shut, I could still hear the triumphant sound of Easton's voice.
