She's the Campus Prince

Chapter 693

Eddie stood by the roadside, hesitating. 'Would it be too strange if I suddenly showed up at the Shaw family's house? he

wondered.

Normally, Eddie wasn't this indecisive. He was just too anxious about it.

Eddie lingered on the street for a few minutes, then took a deep breath. 'Since I'm already here, I'll just go take a quick look at Vicki,' he thought to himself.

Right then, just as he made up his mind, he heard a series of bicycle bells.

Eddie looked up, and when he saw who it was, he instinctively took a few steps back in slight panic.

'Vicki!'

'It's actually Vicki!' Eddie thought, startled..

Vicki was riding a pink bicycle, and inside the basket were beautifully arranged flowers.

Dressed in a white dress with her hair in a high ponytail, Vicki wore a soft, radiant smile that highlighted her delicate

beauty.

Ever since her illness had been cured by Camilla, Vicki had become a little obsessed with the newfound freedom of being able to move her own body.

Every day, she would ride her bicycle around the neighborhood, truly experiencing the feeling of being alive and healthy.

. She rode right past Eddie without even noticing him.

Eddie looked at her figure, a slight smile appearing on his face.

He thought to himself, 'Man, luck's really on my side today.

'I actually got to see Vicki Shen so soon.

'That's enough for me.'

But people are never truly content. No matter how much they get, it's never quite enough.

Before coming here, Eddie had thought that just seeing Vicki from afar would be enough for him.

But now that he'd seen her, he couldn't help but wish he could look at her a little longer.

So, he pretended to be jogging and gradually followed after her.

Vicki wasn't riding very fast, so Eddie caught up to her quickly.

They were almost moving in sync.

That's when Vicki finally noticed Eddie.

13:42 Wed 30 Jul

She turned her gaze toward Eddie and lost focus on the road. The handlebars swerved, the wheels rolled onto the sidewalk, and Vicki fell off the bike along with the bicycle itself.

"Watch out!" Eddie called out, his voice full of concern.

"Ouch!" Vicki cried as she hit the ground.

Vicki's fall happened right as Eddie shouted out in alarm.

Luckily, she caught herself with her hands, so her knees were spared. But her elbow got scraped and started bleeding a

little.

Vicki was scared of pain- even the slightest injury would cause her great distress.

"Are you alright?" Eddie asked, his voice full of concern.

He was so worried that his mind went completely blank. Without thinking, he rushed over and helped Vicki up.

Seeing her in pain, Eddie was instantly wracked with guilt.

'She fell because she got distracted looking at me,' he thought, blaming himself.

'Damn, this is all my fault,' Eddie cursed himself inwardly.

"Thank you, I'm fine," Vicki said, forcing a calm tone.

Even though it hurt, she told herself she couldn't let it show in front of someone else.

'Wait...' Vicki looked at Eddie, a sudden doubt flashing through her mind.

"You..." Vicki stared at Eddie in surprise. "You're Camilla's brother, aren't you? Am I right?"

The last time Vicki had gone to Steerfall for Camilla's wedding, she'd met Camilla's brothers.

Even though Camilla had a lot of brothers, each of them had their own distinct vibe, and Vicki remembered every single

one.

Eddie was taken aback. "You remember me?"

"You're Eddie, right?" Vicki asked with a smile.

Eddie nodded with delight. "Yeah, I'm Eddie."

Eddie hadn't expected Vicki to remember him.

A warm, sweet feeling rose in his chest/

He'd figured that with so many people at the wedding, there was no way Vicki

would have even noticed

Vicki smiled and said, "What a coincidence! What brings you here?"

Eddie was at a loss for words.

-44

'Why am I here?' he thought to himself, 'Of course, it's to see you.'

But he couldn't bring himself to say that aloud.

So, Eddie blurted out a lie without even blinking. "What a coincidence! I just bought a house nearby. I didn't know that you

also lived around here."

"In this case, I should get a place nearby," he mused silently. "Otherwise, she'll find out I lied."

Vicki's smile was pure and bright. "That really is a coincidence."

Eddie's eyes landed on her elbow. "Ms. Shaw, your elbow's bleeding. You should really get it checked out at the hospital."

Vicki said with a smile, "It's okay, Eddie. My family doctor will help me bandage it up when I get home."

"Oh my god! Eddie! She called me that so affectionately?!' Eddie screamed inside his head.

A wave of sweetness surged through his heart.

Almost without thinking, Eddie pulled out his phone and called his younger brother, Damian, who was a doctor. "Dame, where are you?"

Damian asked, "Eddie, what's up? I'm in Regalburg."

Damian was raised by his grandfather since childhood, and his grandfather had

settled permanently in Regalburg.

No matter how busy he got, Damian always made time every month to come to Regalburg and spend some time with his grandpa.

And luckily, he just happened to be in Regalburg today.

Eddie's face lit up with delight. “Dame, can you come over to the Shaw family's

home right now?"

"The Shaw family? What's up?" Damian asked, confused.

Eddie said, “Ms. Shaw got hurt. Can you come take a look at her?"

"No, not so serious..." Vicki quickly protested.

At first, Vicki was confused - why had Eddie suddenly left their conversation to make a phone call? She hadn't expected that he was actually calling Damian.

'That's Damian Saunders! The world-renowned genius doctor! He could diagnose patients at the age of twelve! I just scraped my elbow, and Eddie wants him to come treat me? That's crazy!' Vicki thought, waving her hands in protest.

But Eddie ignored her and spoke into the phone, "Dame, I'll send you the address right now. Hurry over."

And with that, Eddie hung up.

He lowered his head and quickly sent the address.

Vicki was speechless.

13:42 Wed, 30 Jul

After sending the address, Eddie looked up at Vicki. "Ms. Shaw, you just took a

fall. Even if it's just a scraped elbow, what if there are any aftereffects? Damian is

a doctor, and he just happens to be in Regalburg. He'll be here soon."

Vicki didn't know what to say for a moment.

She said, "Thank you, Eddie. You can just call me Vicki. So, should we go back to

my place and wait for him?"

Eddie smiled, "Alright."

Vicki was about to bend down and pick up the flowers that had fallen all over the

ground.

Eddie quickly stopped her. "Stop, you're hurt. Let me get them for you."

Vicki was speechless again.

Eddie bent down to pick up the flowers, then set the bike upright again.

Pushing the bike along, he asked, "Ms. Shaw, can I walk you home?"

Vicki said with a lively, playful smile, "Eddie, just call me by my name. 'Ms. Shaw'

just sounds too distant."

Eddie nodded. "Alright, Vicki."

'What a beautiful name. It really suits her. Honestly, she is even stronger than Victoria,' Eddie couldn't help but think.

Inside the sprawling Shaw family estate, aside from Vicki, there were only about a dozen servants.

Vicki had just one brother, and he was a total workaholic. Most of his time was swallowed up by work, and whatever little was left, he split between Vicki and hisnoveldrama

fiancée.

Therefore, Vicki was pretty lonely.

Her brother kept her so sheltered that she barely ever got to see the outside

world, so she didn't really have any friends.

With Eddie there, Vicki couldn't help but feel genuinely happy.

She personally made Eddie a cup of coffee.

Eddie kept fussing over her elbow injury, but Vicki, on the other hand, couldn't

have cared less.

Holding the cup of coffee Vicki had personally made for him, Eddie felt like he was dreaming.

Just last night, he'd been feeling down, thinking he might never even be worthy of showing up in front of Vicki in this

lifetime.

But after being inspired by Bradley's unwavering attitude toward love, he rushed

over first thing this morning, no matter

the cost.

Not only did he actually get to see Vicki, but now he was even sitting in her house, drinking coffee she'd made just for him.

Not even in his dreams did Eddie dare to hope for something like this.

Vicki smiled and said, "Eddie, give it a try."

She didn't have a job. Her brother wouldn't let her work - the Shaw family was

wealthy enough that she didn't need to

earn money anyway.

She spent her days tinkering with random things, and sometimes, she'd brew

dozens of cups of coffee in a single day, just taking one sip before throwing them

away.

Eddie snapped out of his thoughts and quickly took a sip. He said with a smile,

"It's sweet really sweet."

Vicki looked at him skeptically. "Sweet? But I barely put any sugar in."

It shouldn't taste sweet.

Eddie froze for a second.

'I meant my heart feels sweet, not the coffee,' Eddie thought helplessly.

As for the coffee...

Eddie took another slow sip, a smile spreading across his face. "You went with

two-thirds coffee and one-third milk classic cappuccino ratio. Add just a bit of sugar. Not too sweet, not too acidic - honestly, it tastes great."

1

Hearing that, Vicki's eyes sparkled. "Eddie, you're awesome! You figured it out

just from a single sip? Seriously, that's

amazing!"

Eddie grinned, "I make coffee for myself sometimes."

What does it feel like to be looked at by the girl you like, with a gaze so pure and

admiring? Eddie didn't know about others, but he felt so happy he could float

away.

'This must be what happiness feels like,' Eddie thought to himself.

Back then, he'd been all about chasing after reckless/physical thrills.

But only now did he realize - the real happiness was all in the heart.

- the

Vicki's eyes sparkled. "Eddie, I heard you're also an amazing psychiatrist.

Seriously, you're incredible. The Saunders family .js really packed with talent!"

She shot Eddie a big thumbs-up.

Vicki was absolutely showering him with praise, one compliment after another,

and Eddie could barely handle it.

His handsome face was all smiles, and then some.

They were happily engrossed in conversation.

At that moment, Damian entered the room, guided by one of the maids.

Damian walked in wearing a white coat and carrying a medical kit. He glanced at

the bright and lively Vicki, then looked at

579

Eddie. "Eddie, where's the patient?"

Eddie stood up and grabbed Damian's arm. "Dame, Vicki took a fall. Give her a

good check, will you?"

Damian turned to Vicki and asked, "Where did you get hurt?"

Vicki raised her arm and answered in a low voice, "My elbow."

Damian reached out and gently pinched her arm. "You mean this tiny scrape on your elbow?"

Vicki was a little awkward.

Honestly, even Vicki thought it was totally over the top to have Damian come all

the way here for something like this.

It was just a little scrape, nothing more.

Getting a world-class genius doctor like Damian to treat her was like using a

sledgehammer to crack a nut - way too much

for such a tiny problem.

Eddie frowned. "Dame, hurry up and give Vicki a thorough check. Sure, it's just a

little scrape on the outside, but what if there's some internal injury?"

Damian was at a loss for words.

He glanced at Vicki's mental state. She looked extremely energetic and healthy

now.

But Eddie was obviously really anxious.

Since he was already here, he decided to figure it out.

"Let me check," Damian said, giving in.

Damian placed his fingers on Vicki's wrist, checking her pulse.

After a long moment, he withdrew his hand.

Damian said, "Eddie, Vicki is perfectly healthy. She's fine."

Eddie let out a sigh of relief. "That's great." Damian grabbed his medical kit and was about to head out.

Eddie called after him, "Hey Dame, where are you going?" Damian replied, "I've finished checking on her. I'm going home." Eddie said, "You're leaving without even treating her wound?" Damian shrugged. "After a while, her scrape will probably heal itself!"

Eddie went quiet,

13.44

000!

Vicki said with a smile, “Dr. Saunders, sorry for making you come all the way here.

I'm really okay, but thank you."

Damian smiled, "It's okay. Just 3,000 dollars for the house call

Eddie will wire it to me."

Eddie was dumbfounded. Was he hearing that right?

'Wait, when did I ever agree to pay 3,000 dollars for this?' he thought, speechless.

But whatever.

"Don't even think about leaving until you've treated her wound," Eddie insisted.

Damian said, "6,000 dollars."

Eddie was speechless.

Vicki said, “Dr. Saunders, you really don't have to. I can handle it myself."

Eddie shook his head and said, "Dame, just take care of it."

Damian nodded. "Okay."

He opened the medical kit and found the disinfectant. He gently grabbed Vicki's

arm and sprayed it onto her scraped

elbow.

"Ouch..." Vicki hissed, sucking in a sharp breath.

Eddie's heart twisted with worry. "Dame, go easy on her!" Damian glanced at him. "Relax, Eddie. I'm the doctor here, remember?"

Eddie said, "I'm not saying you're not a pro- I just mean, could you be a bit more

gentle with her?"

Damian grinned and said, "Add another 6,000 dollars, and I'll go easy on her."

Eddie rolled his eyes. "Why don't you just rob a bank?"

Damian shrugged. "I'm afraid of going to jail."

Eddie was speechless again.

Damian quickly pulled a band-aid out of his medical kit and stuck it on Vicki's

elbow.

"All done," Damian said.

"Thank you, Dr. Saunders," Vicki said politely.

Damian closed his medical kit and stood up. "Eddie, I'm done here. 6,000 dollars

-don't forget to

to my account."

With that, Damian turned and walked out.

“Using me as his wingman to pick up girls? Let's see if he tries that again next

time,' Dame thought to himself.

13:42 Wed, 30 Jul

Damian left.

Vicki smiled and said, "Eddie, thank you. I'll send you the money in a bit, okay?"

Eddie waved it off. "No need, Dame was just kidding around."

"I wasn't kidding!" Damian's voice called out from the front door.

Eddie was speechless.

Vicki couldn't help but laugh, "Eddie, your family really is so close."

The Saunders family is a big family, all together and lively-very wonderful. But the

Shaw family only had Viol and her

brother.

It was fine most of the time. But during holidays, when the large dining table was

filled with delicious dishes, it felt painfully empty with just the two of them.

Eddie smiled, "Yeah, our family's really close." They just kept chatting about everything.

Maybe it was because they just hit it off, or maybe Eddie just had a knack for

keeping the conversation going, but the two of them kept chatting away until it was already noon.

Of course, Eddie stayed for lunch, like it was the most natural thing in the world.

After lunch, Vicki liked to take her usual afternoon nap.

So, Eddie had to say goodbye and head out, even though he really didn't want to

leave.

Vicki was a little reluctant to let him go. "Eddie, I never knew you were this much

fun! I had such a great time chatting with you. Since we live so close, can I come

find you to hang out more often?"

Eddie replied quickly, "Anytime you want!"

'I'd better hurry up and actually buy a place around here,' Eddie thought.

Eddie left, feeling on top of the world.

But he was so over the moon, he totally forgot to get Vicki's number.

It wasn't until Vicki was lying in bed that she realized - she'd forgotten to ask

Eddie if he had a girlfriend.

'What if I get too close to Eddie, and his girlfriend minds?' She couldn't help but

worry.
